I hope it looked better on tv. Watching it live was a painful experience. A diabolical game where there had to be a winner but neither team deserved it.

after 5 minutes we had 2 goals. Four more were kicked for the entire night, which is a disgrace.

When you go into a match with no possible way of kicking a winning score, you really have to shed a tear for poor old Mitch Clark - he must be feeling really sad as he watches it on his big screen TV with his leather sofa from the luxury property that he owns. Hope he has his feet up and is nice and comfy so he doesn't feel so sad. Maybe Roos can find the time to give him a call and ask him very nicely if he can play full-forward, I don't know if those type of phone calls are part of the scope of services for a master coach who makes $70k a week though. Clearly we are reaping the benefits of paying the big bucks for the best people available.

A couple of points Doctor. I thought Spencer's effort was very good. With Fitzy gone he had to do a lot of work. His tap work is improving and, remember, Jamar got away with tapping out to his toes for about three years.

I think it is called for. We as members pay up so the club can dish out big contacts so that we can watch our team win games of footy. It's very simple. I don't like being told excuses as to why we have to continue to endure nothing but losses when we supposedly have the best in the business working for us. Absolutely sick of it.

I was at the game last night and although disappointed, I can definitely see progress and think things will only improve from here. Was rapt with Jack Watts game and thought we tackled hard and looked more like a team who understood the game plan. I was very worried who was going to kick our goals from the start but once we get a tall forward firing, we will be a better team. The injuries didn't help - poor Tom McDonald looked as though he needed a crutch out there especially when they moved him down forward. I think if Bernie Vince hadn't hit the post twice in that first quarter and we went into the break with a good lead - the outcome may have been different.

I went home feeling flat last night but I listened to Paul Roos on the radio and he is right. These guys have forgotten how to win and they need to develop the belief that they can.

If Bernie Vince kicks those goals instead of posts we would have won that game. If we had a forward line, we would have won that game.

Some of you are over reacting to a loss that you 'think' we should have won.

Look at how many touches we had and inside 50s.

We couldn't close the deal but I see the progress.

Can those of you who want to sack a third of the team see it?

If we kicked straight we would have won.

If we kicked straight rd1 2013 we still would have lost by 60.

As disappointing as it was to lose we have improved.

Looking at the other games played so far we are a long way off the pace. We have some better players but we have some that are nowhere near the level.

Win or lose last night, the standard of the game and the way we played doesn't engender a lot of confidence in me at the moment.

Could you point to one post that stated we should sack the coach? I don't think anyone would be dumb enough to make that statement (although one made in jest).

You'd have to be blind not to see the implementation of a game plan, in fact if anything we were too rigid with it, and I reckon most would accept that a lack of forward line and then further injuries to big men took their toll. But it cuts deep that we weren't able to get the job done against a very young St Kilda team. Especially since it could be a while before we see a win.

Our lack of forward options is going to be the case for while so we need players to work hard to create space, our forward 50 was too crowded at times with no tall target.

What scares me is that GWS and GC have easily leapfrogged us and both teams have much better high level talent than us

We might have Jesse Hogan, but then GWS has Cameron and Patton

We might have Viney but, then Gold Coast has O'Meara and Martin

We are a long way back in every area from every other team

I invite people to look at this game from another angle. WE WON THAT GAME. The only thing that says we didn't is the scoreboard, and if we were in finals contention that might be significant. The simple fact is that if four of those points had been goals we won the match. One thing that went marginally wrong for us. If Vince hadn't hit those two posts. If Jones, Trengove and Pedersen had kicked the sitters they missed. That is the difference. Forget that We lost Fitz early. Forget that Tommy Mc was playing on one leg or that Howe copped a knock in the first and wasn't running at full speed either. All of that we had covered and we still beat them bar the few missed kicks. The reality is that all over the ground we thrashed them. They were reduced to flooding the backline and bombing long to Reiwoldt as their only useful avenue forward. They flooded their backline against a forward line with NO TALLS. That's how much we had over them.

I couldn't care less about the score. As far as I'm concerned we beat them all over that misbegotten travesty of a ground and the fact that the scoreboard doesn't reflect that is a minor detail to be corrected with some more set shot practice this week.

What you are offering up are the usual excuses that I and most MFC supporters have used for decades " if only"

The simple fact is at the end of the Game the Saints had a higher score.

That means they won and that we lost.

I was disgusted last night but in hindsight, there've been some really good improvements.

Our disposal count turn around from last season was huge and it was just those turnovers which really cost us. Once they are stamped out for the most part we'll be cruising. Dunn and Watts under Roos so far have been very impressive and there were a few times where we really strangled the Saints and they couldn't get it out of their defensive 50.

On the other hand, that was one of the few games we really should have won this year.

Im happy with all of the new players - Vince is more exciting and reliable than Sylvia; Dom Tyson will only get better; Michie was so so but will improve; Georgiou was very composed.

what perspective? There is no reason to suggest we will getter any better than what we saw last night which should mean going winless for the year. Even GWS has already beaten Sydney, leaving us exposed for the wooden spoon. Can you imagine if we were playing the Hawks last night, we would have lost by 110 just like we did 2 weeks ago. Dawes and Clark are going to kick about 3 goals between them for year so where are the rest going to come from? We have Pederson named at FF that is where we are at.

Here's the scary thing: Jones, Watts, Tyson, Vince and Grimes got an average of 30.4 touches each. Together they helped us to 47 inside-50s, which is nearly an average amount. If that's all you knew about the game you would assume we kicked 13-14 goals and probably won, but we kicked SIX.

So go ahead and give me some 'perspective' and convince me how we are going to improve. I'm guessing that come round 22 you'll be talking about how we might have won a game for the year if only poor old Mitch had cheered up and played a game.

Laughable post. We will improve when we have a forward line. In a few weeks time, if all goes well, Hogan and Dawes are back in the forward line providing a target and making Howe and Fitzy third and fourth talls. Garland is back as well as Gawn and Viney. That's some very handy talent still to return to the side.

We showed what we can do - we got plenty of the ball and got it in the forward line plenty of times. We just had no targets to kick to and put the score on the board.

Edit - and your disgusting jab at Mitch Clark is a disgrace as well. Pull your head in.
