Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So let's cut the current and past administration some slack on the issue of corporate branding and accept that whatever decisions are made they are done with the best intentions for the good of the club.

As were so many other decisions - like the blazers. Intentions - the need to do something, anything - trump intelligence every time.

tried to fill out the survey but it just would not work ?

When you get to the last question where it asks to rate from 1 to 11, you can only answer one question with a rating 1, one question rating 2 and so on. I hope this helps

dunno why stuie is so worried about the kids

i haven't met one kid (who follows afl) or adult for that matter who didn't know melbourne were the DEMONS

they might not know we were also known as the redlegs (2nd nick) but they know who the dees are

When we had the boring box logo of our jumper my 4 year old niece thought we were the envelopes.

An easy mistake to make.

It had all the personality of a cigarette packet. Swap the red for white and you've got a packet of Winnie blues.

I quite like the monogram logo, but there's got to be a Demon involved somewhere - even if it's just on merch.

Not violently opposed to the current one and feel like we've got better things to spend money on than changing it BUT I'd also like to obliterate everything that reminds me of 2012/13.

I really like the logo but I think if they got rid of the footy at the front and the italic rules in the background it would be better.

I also don't have a problem with the blazer. Most Olympic sports teams wear one.

But if the buggier is back this year I'll vomit.

Which one of these...

a) Doesn't say what the team is called or at least have a picture of it's symbol

b) Looks like a purely corporate logo

c) Will never appeal to kids

d) Has too many elements, making it confusing and directionless

FCS, it doesn't even say "Demons" anywhere or have a demon, might as well put a fuschia on there!

I filled in mine

My big comments were

- Don't like the emblem way to busy, keep it simple

- Red and blue and get the red to be red not pink or Maroon

I added Please no 1920's blazers

That last question was difficult to fill out. I gave up trying to get it to reflect my views exactly. But on the other hand it is difficult to rank things which are so different.

From a design point of view, the logo is impossibly busy and redundant. The script is illegible, and amounts to scribble. The Southern Cross has no particular significance, and is probably only there to balance the trident. With MFC in the yoke and a football on the shield, why have the words "football club" at the bottom? And that odd flame above the "M" - why? Keep the "EST 1858" ribbon as a bow to tradition - we have always bowed to tradition, we always will. That's what's got us where we are.

So you reckon that telling them to go for 'the Demons' will get them on board? Bit scary.

Kids follow players they like. Howe, Franklin, Rioli, Dangerfield, etc.

They also follow who they are told to follow.

They don't pick a logo that looks like something out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (god rest its soul) and go for a team.

If we were going to use the moniker of the club to sell it - we should have picked a more family friendly mascot...

2.

an evil passion or influence.

3.

a person considered extremely wicked, evil, or cruel.

Some kids like that stuff, I loved the fact I barracked for the Demons as a kid they were fierce and evil in a cartoon way. Fact is if the team is good it probably doesn't really matter.

Cereal box mascot lol, give me strength. So was it a problem back in 2000 or did you think nothing of it?

There's the rub - no-one hates anything when you are winning games of footy.

The emblem, the clash jumper, stuie, Etihad, etc.

They all get less annoying when we start winning.

Interesting logic. So you're asserting that most supporters who want to see a change now, wouldn't care so much if we were winning - simply based on the fact that you, who don't want a change now, wouldn't care as much if we were winning. You are projecting your temperamental way of viewing this on to everyone else. Not to say you are the only one with this view of course.

I won't speak for anyone else but I would have the same opinion on this regardless of how we are playing.

As for importance, it is important enough for the club to survey its member base about it.

If we are called the Demons it is hardly a far fetched notion that we actually have a Demon in our logo.

The majority of top level sporting teams in the world have some sort of mascot/identity imagery in their logo. The club is aware of this.

If it means improving our brand and appealing to more people at large then that is off-field performance. It can happen in conjunction with improving our footy.

Interestingly we actually had a 'bringing back the Demon' thing a while back (pirate demon) but it was unfortunately a crap design and didn't take off.

Funny how many people here don't get that. It's like they think the design and marketing team should be running the tan and learning the game plan instead of wasting their time doing design and marketing jobs...

You know what I like about the Collingwood logo? The fact that as far as I can remember it has always looked that same as it is now, this displays representation and consistency.

I'm not saying we stick with the current logo but think carefully before implementing the next one so it can stand the tests of time and not be something that re-branded every 2-3 years.

Our current logo possibly cost heaps to design, (as an example, the Woolies logo cost some $4mil) just when we are not that financial. I always have a problem that things as controversial as a logo, jumpers, etc., the members don't have a say, they just happen. Its our logo, not the officials that look after the club for a limited time. Look at Sydney, the guys that made the Buddy decision will not be at the club in 9 years! It would be great IMO, if the members submitted designs, then the members vote on it. I would bet there are some vey talented Demonlanders out there! If there was to be a change.

Go and get a demon and market it to those that you want to - I am not advocating a change of name - I am saying that there is no need to get rid of the Emblem if you want to target people with the colours, or the city, or the Demon, or the city of Casey.

And I would be stating the bloody obvious if I said that supporters are happier with periphery issues like this one when we are winning.

I hope I don't sound too temperamental...

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
