so we lose moloney to FA, rivers to FA, sylvia to FA and now we will probably lose Frawley. Wow each year we just see someone walk out. Next year Nathan Jones is out of contract, if he walks which I doubt he would I think I will just give up.

None of those players were better than average. Use the picks with better wisdom.

Turn them over till we get a bunch of hard nuts.

We cannot let our previous bad drafting record undervalue our early picks and we shouldn't force a bad trade. Jason Taylor needn't be punished for the bad work of others.

I meant more in terms of pot luck. Every draft has stars and turkeys in the top end. For every Chris Judd, there's a Cale Morton. For every Lance Franklin, there's a Lachie Hansen. For every Nic Naitanui, there's a John Meeson.

He's not becoming part of the problem he's just not any good. His two turn overs in the St Kilda game cost us any chance of winning. More pathetic disposal in the Eagles game. If he can get 800 good luck to him. He's not up to it and we need to find better.

I'm pretty sure, Tom Mcdonald, Lynden Dunn and Dean Terlich are also out of contract this year

Next year, Jack Viney, Jesse Hogan, Nathan Jones and Colin Garland and Jeremy Howe all are, as are a host of less important players

Clark is gone, i'd now turn to Jesse Hogan and say here is 600 k a year for 5 years

we gotta lock him in.

Maybe its just the way he is, but often his facial expression at trainings and nab cup games express a lack of care, apparently he doesn't say much around the club.

I hope he is just a chilled dude.

I hope he hasn't already decided he's heading back home come end of 2015.

We should also target a forward from gold coast or gws if it were possible.

My friend is really good mates with him, she reckons that's just him because i thought the same thing, apparently he loves melbourne and thinks it's alot better than perth, more to do.

Don't forget that bloke who went to GWS. 25% of our team will have walked out in a couple of years.

But at least according to the AFL we don't need any help.

I think everything will even out eventually. There is a salary cap and even top sides can only afford one or two players at the highest salary levels. And so can we. It can break down however if the AFL do not keep a lid on underhanded methods and brown paper bags. I am starting to get over players like Clark and Frawley and others who for various reasons are/were on big coin but giving us minimal output in return. I crave for a switched on team where everyone plays for each other and is an integral part of the winning puzzle. We realistically cannot get any worse if we lose a couple of big earners. Others will replace them and if we can get our mojo together they will perform to their worth and be less likely to leave.

Roos isn't stupid. In the same day that Mitch retired Spud Jnr says up yours. He knows where we are at. There is a story on the homepage about a mid season player review. We need to identify who can play and who must be moved on, no more favours or free games. Spots must earned. What talent we have left must be secured and Spud Jnr should be dropped. It won't happen but I would like to see it.

I have an odd thought going through my head regarding the retirement of Mitch. It certainly isn't appropriate to bring it up in the other thread, but it is relevant here.

Now that Mitch is no longer one of our top paid players, does that move Frawley up a spot and put him in the top 25% or whatever it is meant to be? Does he now find himself a restricted free agent rather than unrestricted? He would have to have been pretty close to the line I would think, even with a front-ended contract.

that's a good point! i think Josh Mahoney said Mitch stays on our list til the end of the year technically.

an interesting thought

however it doesn't change much. if another team offers 800k we wouldn't match it

plus if he doesn't want to be here what's the point pushing it

in reality ufa = fa

Apparently compo for Frawley will be the pick after our first pick in the national draft, say we finish last, we will get pick 1 and 2. Quality tall forward and gun mid fielder...

Throw 3 years and $600,000 a year at Chip

Honestly I think he's worth more if he leaves. FA band 1 compo, potentially pick 2...

He is playing like his heart isn't in it so I can't see us trying to bribe him for loyalty. He'd really need to step it up for the rest if the year.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
