Just read Slobbo's back page article in the Hun about the Demons & 3 picks.

Has to be one of the WORST pieces of Sport Journalism I have ever read.

Why bother?????

He sourced that from here.

Slow news week.

I was initially against paying him big money but we may be left with no choice. Assuming Clark's contract in terminated at seasons end, even with that we don't have a list that warrants 92.5% of the cap.

I played golf with a mate at The Freeway Golf Club in Ivanhoe today. My mate & I got teamed up with a guy named Mick and his mate was none other than Mark Robinson from the Herald Sun. I waited about six holes before I asked any questions regarding footy. I asked him if James Frawley was leaving and he said "He has been offered contracts from six other clubs and that in my experience that means he's being shopped and he's as good as GONE". He went onto tell me that Frawley manager told him "Melbourne can't & won't match his asking price".

I pressed him once more on Frawley and he said "He's going mate, He's going.......trust me". He added that all players were after the big payday and said that's the only thing Frawley's chasing is the best price. He did tell me a few juicy things about Dustin Martin as well but couldn't print them yet because he couldn't be 100% sure.

UNfortunately I have the feeling Robbos mate is correct about Chip. The times they are a'changing.

He said "Dusty was driving a stolen car when he got done drink driving"

Wasn't he pulled over in an unregistered Jeep recently (and from memory he doesn't have licensee). Same event or different?

Doesn't take much to read between the lines about why nobody even wanted him when his manager shopped him around. Far too much trouble for what he's worth.

Hang on, with 0 stars and Clark's contract either gone or not included in the cap at a club already paying miles below the maximum how is it we "can't match his asking price"? I understand won't, but we will have a massive amount of cap space end of season. Doesn't add up.

Everything Chip has said points back to trying to get the best pay day in what could be his last prime deal. He says he " loves the club" and sees himself as an "old fellah" amongst the group and will let his manager direct him through the year. Posturing- hopefully we offer him what he is worth and even then some if needed. Chip doesn't have a poker face ( or a really good one? ) I will trust what he says.

A mate of mine works for Hawthorn in recruiting, said 3 weeks before Robbos article came that Frawley is after 800k a year contract. Hawks told him to [censored] off. Frawleys manager is all about screwing clubs for the best price. Good as gone, look at Rivers now enjoying his footy more than ever which he said while being interviewed on Sunday....

Wasn't Mick Warner, was it?

At this stage he has not gone down with a mystery injury to squint my eyes so I am more concerned how he performs for the rest of the season. He is still a Demon. If he goes, too bad. But I hope he gives us some joy for the rest of the season.

Frawley's manager is shopping him around to get the best price for his client, so that he can then go to his client and say "this is how much I can get you" and he can go to MFC and say "this is what you have to match."

I honestly think Frawley has been enjoying his footy the last couple of weeks, and can see the change.

He's also the type to stay unless there's conclusively no light at the end of the tunnel, IMO.

Beyond that, it's in Robinson's interest to spread this sort of carp to strangers.

Spreading Chinese whispers of free agents jumping ship sells more papers, regardless of what the truth is.

If some bloke I didn't know from a bar of soap was pressing me for details, I'd be loyal to my own agenda.

Knowing what we know of him, what do you think Mark Robinson would do?

Tend to agree. He may well go in the end but there's a great deal of mileage in getting the public to jump at shadows.

I can only relay what he said. He seemed quite matter of fact.

I remember that Roos said when he was in the media that he would not give a game to someone he new was leaving.

Devils advocate here but maybe that's why he's playing forward.

He's playing forward because, without him, our forward line can't win games. Especially with Clark gone and Hoges injured. :(

We're taking a hit defensively without him in defence though. Hopefully once Hogan comes in we can experiment a little more with the forwards. JKH/Dawes/Hogan would be an interesting combination. Speed, height and bulk.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
