Roos can't lose

Recommended Posts

I don't care about the start of the season, we just need these boys right come September :)

If you are one of those looking for 6-8 wins this year then september will be pre season training.

Can't see why we would need them then.

Any way they will probably be going for post season surgery getting ready for 2015 season.

Some future deja vous for you.

This is Clarks 3rd season.

He is getting $800,000 a year.

He is out of contract at the end of September 2015, I think.

He has played 15 games for Melbourne Football Club.

please someone tell me Ive got it wrong.

Why do you care? We have to pay someone the salary cap, we already don't pay the full amount and aren't anywhere near salary cap pressure, or anybody else wanting more money that we can't pay. Our only free agent, Chip, can be covered with the cap as is, and by the time our young players want a pile, these contracts will be gone.

Just don't see what the big deal is. You win some, you lose some.

[censored] you got to love love this Neeld fella. He isnt even at the club anymore and his actions are still giving me the shits. These 2 are close to being added to the "Neeld legacy"

It's a big deal of money. We have ahistory of bad returns from players we recruit from other clubs.

Many here have deeper pockets than me but I pay membership each year and enter auctions etc.

yours iis a very lazze faire position to take. You have deeper reserves of patience which I envy.

We haven't won a game yet. If we lose to the saints it wil be because we missed these two.

No, I completely agree with the paying the memberships, club being in debt etc etc. That is an entirely separate issue.

All I am saying is, we have to pay someone and who else, in the last three years, would you have thrown $800k at in preference?

I'm totally not saying he has been value for money. But it isn't about all of us paying money into the club that's being squadered. We're not paying close to the salary cap as it is.

Crikey, I hope they are not paying those blokes or some Saint supporter will moan about the cost. Look, you offer the bloke a contract. He doesn't intend to get injured. Bad stuff happens. It's disappointing, just have to live with it.

Come back to me again at the start of next year when he has played another 5 or 6 games.

Thats more than I expect. Your typical simplistic response will probably be the same.

To spell it out for you I dont believe he prepares himself correctly. It would have been known that soft tissue injuries following his Lisfranc was possible.

The foot injury was apparently finished well before summer. It is both the club and the players' responsibility to train and recover in the best possible fashion.

Look at Hawthorn players making a pact on the night of winning a premiership to come back in excellent shape to attempt back to back. Does Clark (and possibly Dawes) have that work ethic?

Yeah, that's clever.

Blame Clark for getting injured.

SMH.

When he was playing, all were lauding him for his courageous attack on the footy in the air.

Anyone remember the attempt where he actually damaged the lisfranc?

Knocked himself out in the process.

And some are silly enough to think that should be condemned in retrospect.

Short memories.

I think you will find that a) that pact probably was more about not going out on the turps every night and maintaining a healthy diet as well as some light training, and b) Clark and Dawes both adhere to a similar work ethic.

That you could seriously suggest the players take responsibility for their training regimes and understand the implications of certain kinds of exercise post Lisfranc recovery, is an absolute joke... that is why we have people like Misson at the club and even they will not get it right 100% on the time.

Sorry, but I don't think it's Sue who is being simplistic.

I don't think you have ever played the game or have never had an injury.....Players get injured ...it is a fact of life playing this game....Some players have a charmed run others don't

It is not their fault.....Just a fact of the life of a footballer....Afl or any other league.....

I know our players should have made a pact at the start of this year....."ok boys...no one gets injured this year...OK?....Geez

What planet are you on? They are injured.

And you are questioning their work ethic? Their work eithic is impeccable. In fact prior to Cross arriving it was the best alongside NJones.

I'd be questioning your ability to distinguish between the two concepts of injury and work ethic.

Their work eithic (sic) is impeccable? What makes you think so?

Both of Their recovery planning looks amateur to me.

My belief is that they could have managed both soft tissue injuries better earlier.

If they are back in 2 or 3 weeks, fine. Im wrong, but I dont believe it.

Nose, teeth, knees, hamstrings, ankles, toes, back but especially fingers. Ive spent money on injuries.

Ive no idea who you are sport but you want to do half an hour kick to kick one evening, 10 minutes of of run throughs?

Peanut farm St Kilda, pick a night, not Wednesdays. Im 58 short and not particularly fit, slightly overweight, I guess,

but unless youve finished playing in the last few years, Im confident Ive got a big mouth like you well covered. IM me.

Ive got a new Sherrin KB.

we all need to calm down and take a deep breath. We all hoped Clarke and dawes would be good to go Rd1 but unfortunately that's not the case. Its not Dawes knee keeping him out like we feared its his calf. Its not clarkes foot keeping him out like we feared its his hammy. Long story short its damn bad luck.

We will have Dawes back Rd2 if not Rd1 and we will have Clarke back Rd 3-4. So lets get this straight they could play up to 17 or 18 together this year. so lets temped that idea of them never playing together. Lets hope Jesse doesn't get thrown around too much by the big defenders and looses confidence (I think we all know that's not going to happen) and when Dawes and Clarke come in they can take the big defendeds.

How exciting is it too think, all going well by Rd 3 or 4 (unfortunately not Rd1) that jesse and Howe will be taking defender 3 and 4.

This might help some people relax. All good things take time!

Can't wait for the Clark, Dawes and Hogan trio to wreak havoc! Throw in JKH and Howe and every defence will dread playing us.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
