Jordie McKenzie

Ok, I'm a Demonland reader and believer and have only ever posted once before. Every night I log onto Demonland to get my daily fix and every time I do I can't help but get peeved at the photo on the far right of the header. Whilst I admire his tenacity and hard work, if we are to succeeded as a football side, JM can not be in our best 25 players.

I'm hoping he doesn't get a game next year, which would mean others have gone past him.

Even if you don't agree with everything I am saying, you must admit that he surely doesn't deserve to sit alongside Roos, Jones, Frawley and Clarke on the Demonland front page.

Yes we all hope Jordie suddenly learns to kick properly but the best we can hope is that he can become the best blanket man in the AFL behind Crowley.

I don't agree with this style vendetta against a player that gives his all.

What if he is to improve out of sight?

Do you recall the transformation of Brett Kirk under Roos?

But to complain because his photo is on the header ... FCS, what a tool you must be.

I did recognise the fact that he does give his all which I respect him for. It's not a vendetta against him, more on the club. I'm simply saying that I hope we improve as a team so he isn't a part of our best. By the way he's no Brett kirk and I'm no tool!

If you really knew the meaning of the phrase, you wouldn't care that he messed it up.

Or you would have watched Lion King too many times to give a sh#t anymore.

Hope it's your last post as well. Back to the shadows.

Giving him a 3 year deal was a joke

You can join him.

Seriously people we keep losing by 100 points on multiple occasions. Skill can only account for so much of those losses. The majority of those losses are due to complete lack of effort and intensity. McKenzie is probably top 3 behind Jones and Garland if not top 5 at consistent hardness and effort.

I also like our chances in games when Ablett, Griffen or Dangerfield are shut out of any meaningful midfield impact. McKenzie provided that in the last month or so of the year in 2013. It becomes 17 v 17 with Jordie negating 3 of the top 10 players in the comp, that sounds ok to me.

Crowley is in his own league when it comes to tagging. Not only that, he is actually a decent player offensively as he's smart enough to know when to make his move.

As for every team 'needing a Crowley', I'm not so sure I agree. Take Geelong nowadays and Hawthorn and Sydney. Sewell is a run with player but still gets a lot of the ball, but neither of the other two sides have one midfielder who only tags and does nothing else.

McKenzie is a very limited footballer and while I'll never question his endeavour, I'm not sure he'll be a start up mid come 2015/16.

Obviously I'll be delighted if he proves me wrong and his skill set at AFL level magically transform.

Fair enough, I went too far with that post.

I think I'm having draft period withdrawals.

If my memory is correct he came to us via the rookie draft so on that basis we have done well.

But don't expect him to be more than a tagger.

In that role he is quite useful.

IMO he does not have the skill set to be any more than that.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
