Corporate Sponsors

Where are we at with Sponsorship.

The club has struggled to attract and retain sponsers over recent years and have now lost our joint major partners in Opal and Webjet.

More than ever finances are playing a major role in a clubs success and we are not making enough right now to pay our way. Free Agency COW's and pressure not to limit clubs expenditure by the power teams is creating upward pressure on clubs budgets.

The proposed fan tax of $2 for each person attending a game will generate a few Mill to be distrbuted to the 6 or so poorer clubs but that wont be enough to bridge the gap for us. I think more needs to be done by the AFL to compensate us for the limited media exposure and gate takings from the crappy draw we get handed. This is not li9mited to the Dees but true for all the strugglung teams. I worry about the Sants if they embark on a rebuild and have an extended period as cellar dwellers.

We are not a big drawing club but I defy any club to get big crowds playing Gold Coast at 4;40 on Mothers day Sunday. This sort of game costs the club millions in our gate takings and limted sponsorship opportunities due to the lack of media exposure. I think a lesser sponsorship of Collingwood provides more exposure for the dollar than being Melbourne major sponsor. Why would any business ho conduct due diligence do it?? We are competing in a crowded market in melbourne and we are not getting a decent run at the ball.

How much extra cash are we getting from the increased games in the NT?

I like the quiet way the PJ seems to go about his business and De Crispigny has only just arrived but has anyone heard of potential sponsers coming on board?

I'm sure will be informed of the new sponsors when its appropriate. PJ and DeC know their jobs.

Little panic out there in the footy world about this on this occasion. I'm sure if there was a drop of blood to be had certain hacks would be into us.

The club is under no warrant to provide us with info until it happens.

Well, they are, seeing as though we're stakeholders. *members at least

when they need to, they dont need to give you or I a running commentary

Any business informs its shareholders/members when it has something to tell., when appropriate. or if news.

its not a big deal that we have no weekly update on this.

DAM I stated to the MFC I would not re-join in 2014 unless I was personally involved in all major decisions from now on.

They lied to me !!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFLMAO

Weekly?! I expect hourly reports plus access to PJ's diary to see who he is lunching with.

It another very important part of the cleansing process, a good, sustainble commerial realtionship that will provide stability.

lets hope the team can make something happen, it would be quite debilitating to run out Round 1 without a Jumper sponsor.

OOPs just suggested Boss dog look for sponsors on his jaunt to the Us (No b$ thread) perhaps we should encourage all dland members who go os to look out for companies with an Australian presence who sponsor teams oversaes but are not represented in the AFL

I have heard that we have a number of potential sponsors coming on board, but we are currently doing a criminal check, filtering through various facebook accounts of their management, getting reports from the ACCC, and waiting for their credit rating report to come through.

It's just how we do things now at the MFC.

All I will say is that I'm thankful that Peter Jackson will know our true market value, and will secure sponsors that are willing to invest at the appropriate price. Come at me B59!

7:41 and counting !

It was a joke puntkick I said it when everyone was bleeding about playing games in the NT.

What I do know from a reasonable source is that there is no one remotely close at this point.

The well if fairly dry!

umm I am pretty sure Peter Jackson knows whats hes doing

Just saying

I think we all are.

Just because he's very good at his job doesn't mean he can pull sponsorship out of his butt.

We are a hard sell. We're not exactly a brand with which you would want to associate your product, are we.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
