Any suggestions for our options in pre season draft (PSD)

There has been virtually no discussion about our options here. We will after all have the second pick here. Maybe an option for say a Bernie Vince if we can't get the deal done if the Sylvia compo is in the late 30s.

There must be some other options for us though in those second tier performers in other clubs, and in Local leagues. Any potential Pods, or Barlows we should be considering?

The hard part is players can now move as delisted free agents. I think the period for this is the week after trade month. This is where you will see Cross/Chapman and co picked up. I'm hoping Anthony Miles or Maverick Wellar just to add some more midfield depth.

Vince is still contracted. He won't be in the PSD.

Chapman to bombers....2 year deal....Done

Daniel Cross.

As I understand it,Danial Cross is a delisted free agent so does not come under PSD. It is up to the the club and the player to negotiate a deal.

Maybe if we have a spot. actually I think Gysberts would prosper under Roos. At his best he is a real talent, but is a poor trainer and inconsistent. I think, under Roos he could address this. If PR can harness this talent, he could be a real plus.

More than anyone else, I think Gysberts has seriously suffered from appallingly bad coaching at Melbourne, at by the time he got to the Kangas he was just cannon fodder.

Worth consideration as a PSD pick IMO, if he nominates of course.

I don't, I think we suffered from making an appallingly bad selection. We picked a skinny type who was always going to struggle at AFL level.

Just a poor selection and he was not the only one.

Stop blaming the coaching he was a poor selection

Who is this Zac Jones I keep hearing about here.

Won't happen cause the media commentaters would get the AFL to intervene.

I can imagine;

Jones to Jones who handballs to Jones and a long handball back to Jones who kicks to Jones.

Tomas Bugg.

Or we can hope the GWS/Collingwood Taylor Adams trade falls through and we can swoop in the PSD!

Good idea with Bugg or Buntine as they may think they are not particlarly high in the pecking order at GWS. Otherwise I'd look at Shane Nelson in the WAFL. A ball magnet that continues to surprise phantom drafters with his non-selection in recent drafts.

OD did you have any other medical advice as I would love you to have a thread like a Doctor Phil but called something like OD's Special Advice for Troubled Demonlanders

trouble is OD has bex as the answer to everything and people under 75 wont know what it is

but a whats troubling you line for all demonlanders would create some wonderful relief and maybe biff could impart some advice on head trauma and hangover remedies

WYL,could extol his knowledge of the great depression

BBO, could give dress sense tips and hair grooming advice for the bald

Then another reason to stay away from him.

He's had two chances at two clubs, and failed at both, that should tell you something.

gysberts has had 2 chances to put the necessary work in, failed. now he's got 2 choices buckley's &

imo, he needs a couple of years in amateurs chasing leather. that may change him.

I don't really think the PSD works as it used to. The fact there is now delisted free agency and the fact uncontracted players can now enter the national draft mean the PSD achieves little more than giving you a few weeks to look at your list post national draft and go from there.

So I am not expecting any miracles from the PSD. Players will try their luck in the national draft if they have to (eg Tippett, Ball) and they almost always get to the club they want.

Obviously if we an get someone like Bugg to want to come to the MFC specifically then we might be in business, but I'm not overly hopeful, an that's fine.

well then, at least the opposition would have to keep up with the ...........? :)

I can remember having Trevor Terry Tassie And Bob Johnson in the one side.

The only ones who worried were the opposition.

If Gysbert had the goods he would have demonstrated that capability far more effectively and consistently during his time at two clubs AFL and associated VFL clubs. football is about a lot of things including application, drive, desire and things that Gysberts does not appear to have shown much of. If he has the grit and desire to succeed then go back to the VFL, SAFL, etc and prove your got the good and try to get picked up next week.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
