Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Would he be worth a late first round pick?

Wwuld think he would add a stronger body to our midfield and is a pretty handy player

Crows would have to consider the offer to gain a place in the top of the draft.

2nd round pick. He looked like he would become a star back in 2009 and was a smokie for the Brownlow and dominated in finals. Since then he has been average and in and out of their team. Now 27 from memory so wouldn't give up a first round pick for him as he is a B grader. He would definitely slot into our team well though so if the price is right then I'm all for it!

so a pick around 20-25 would be a fair swap then? it seems as though the draft pool isn't very strong so these sort of trades would be worth seriously considering

Pretty much sums him up to a tee. If we could get him reasonably of course he would add a lot to the midfield but I wouldn't want to be trading away a first rounder for Vince.

See here's the problem, a lot of people want us if we get a PP to trade it away on a good established mid and they are not up for trade. It's players who fall outside that category like Bernie that would be traded for a first round because it is above the odds.

Sloane, Griffin and the like will not be on the table, some nqr's and pensioners will be and they are not worth top picks.

I think we use our higher draft picks on best available talent and then look at what we can find from there with trades and free agency.

lets say we get pick 2 and then 21 because gws have the extra pick, would you be happy with 21 for vince? vince and aish for the first two picks would adress our needs somewhat

Not sure, would need to know what else was available but I would probably look at it this way. He will be 28 by next season, he's apparently a good guy who likes a to have a good time with his mates but is an unfulfilled talent. Sound like someone we know?

I think we just hold on to Col, I'm not sure Bernie is going to add a lot to the mix now.

Yeah, that's a good point, 21 as part of a deal for adams sounds better anyway

Think is best is past him and would not trade anything in the first two rounds for him. Don't get me wrong he is a good ordinary player who had a couple of really good years but there are plenty of them out there who fail to reach those standards again, therefore IMO they are not worth trading decent picks away for

You would have to consider offering something if they wanted to move him on. I would be very surprised if we didn't end up with one or two of the following players:

- Dale Thomas

- Anthony Miles

- Bernie Vince

- Taylor Adams

- Daniel Cross

- Brad Sewell

- Nick Dal Santo

- Levi Greenwood

- Liam Anthony

- There are plenty more

Any of these players would walk straight into our midfield and help from the get go. It all depends who wants to come to us and what we are willing to give up but I would be very surprised if at least one of these players aren't with Melbourne next season.

Viv Michie is another player we should target. Tall midfielder who is a ball magnet at WAFL level. Young player too.

Very much agree on this he is a very good player and highly rated at Freo, very hard midfield to break into. Jack Stephen and Armitage are looking like good mids now after playing in the shadows of Hayes, Del Santo, Goddard, Gram & Montagna. IMO for where we are at we would be better off targeting the likes of Michie, Taylor Adams and an older free agent along with drafting two young mids. Would be a better option than trading away picks for someone who will more than likely not reach his 2009/10 form again

I agree with using picks to obtain someone like a michie or Adams. But there is also merit on taking someone like a Sewell, Dal Santo, Cross type as a free agent as they only cost us a list spot and can bring valuable knowledge to our young and inexperienced midfield.

AFL latest: Adelaide's Bernie Vince meets with Demons

BERNIE Vince has met with Melbourne as the club continues to explore options to bolster its midfield.

The talented 28-year-old Adelaide midfielder has been a constant subject of trade discussions, even after winning the Crows best and fairest in 2009.

Happy to take a look but please not for pick #2.

Brett Anderson confirmed on SEN this afternoon that the Dees are keen on Adelaide's Jarryd Lyons as well. 21 year old inside mid taken at pick 61 in the 2010 national draft.

Adelaide need a pick better than Port's pick 30 to trump Port for Polec. Vince has toured AAMI Park.

I would've thought it's looking like Vince and Jarryd Lyons for Pick 20.

Perhaps as part of a larger deal to get Polec from Brisbane to Adelaide.

The Lions will need an extra ruckman for back up to Leuenberger if Longer leaves and Jamar or Spencer could be involved.

I'd like to think it's this. Polec to Adelaide, Vince to Melb, second rounder to the Lions?

As long as it's not Pick 2 I think we strike a good deal. Vince would add plenty of experience and class to our midfield.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
