I hope Col stays, but if he doesn't we must recruit a better player.

We hold high draft numbers. We deal hard against other clubs.

"You want it, you pay for it"

We must use FA to our advantage.

Col can just walk...there's no bargaining here

The biggest problem facing the MFC is to get players to come to the club.

At present the major reason would be us paying over the odds.

We need to be confident we don't get players are are mainly interested in topping up their Super.

We cannot offer a chance at a flag or even being part of a winning team.

No matter how good the FA player is first we have to convince them to join.

Just confirmed on AFL.com.au

Demon hunt: Fremantle circling Sylvia

That link just says Freo is after him... does your source tell you he's made up his mind to go west?

It was on the radio earlier today apparently. And on the facebook rumour pages.

If Im honest I would say that Sylvia never capitalised on his talent. And probably wont be a massive miss given his efforts in 2013. But its annoying that all our free agents tend to wander...

I wish him well if he leaves.

This would be a chance for the AFL to give us slight overs for our compensation pick. (Considering we didn't get a PP)

The best we can hope for is second round I reckon

Can someone clarify this?

If he is leaving, we probably will be 'advantaged' by our low ladder finish in that a band 3 comp (if we get a band 3 comp) will be about pick 20, straight after our 2nd round pick.

Is that how it works?

Cant blame him for leaving for a finals like team. The fact that a coach like Lyon wants him so bad also shows how many of you are wrong about Col. Wish you'd done more for us mate, but 10 years of hard labour is appreciated. Better than $Cully. All the best.

I would have preferred that Col stayed but put frankly, this kind of crap doesn't surprise me. We have stood by him through domestic violence incidents, car accidents and years of unfulfilled potential and he jumps off us just when we need senior players.
I wonder how long he will last at Freo where he isn't a big fish in a small pond and there are blokes who have as much natural talent as he but work three times as hard.

Hope he stays, but can't blame him if he leaves...............plenty of recent examples of senior players moving to contending clubs and picking up a premiership medal.

Midfield is weak enough as it is, not having Sylvia makes it harder again for Roos to get us competitive next year.

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
