Comfortably, I reckon. I can remember the buzz and hope that was sold around here (and in the wider community) when the "hard-nosed" Neeld and his assistants came on board.. multiply that by 10 this time round!!

I bloody hope we can crack 40 k and I don't see why it can't get to 45 k before the start of next season.

We currently have just over 33 k members, PJ has stated we have lost ~ 12 k in the past two years, 45 k should be the target... not to mention the potential of any new additional memberships.

I hope the staff and volunteers have been back tearing up the phones in the hunt for new or renewed members whilst the Roos hype is high.

Let's hope Stynes wish finally comes true.

Jim Stynes intentions were absolutely pure for the MFC, he will go down as one of the most important figures in our history.
He'd of done anything for the MFC and hopefully we surpass his dream of having over 40k members.

Thanks Jimmy.

Roos + High Profile Recruit (or two) + a couple of early wins = excitement = 45k members.

The bandwagon supporters will return.

I don't want them but unfortunately the club needs them

Don't want them? I want every supporter we can muster. Those returning should be welcomed back. It's not like they're riding on the coat tails of success, they just have a reason to believe again.

Time to put the SM back in the cabinet bb

Im serious 45...why not ?

We were going through 35 with ease and looking towards 40 when we went belly up.

Currently we stand at 33 odd. The club acknowledge they KNOW the 12000 who have done a runner. Target them and also campaign to those who let us go years back. Then there are new members...always are, even for us . Amazing .

point being again, why aim for the easily achieved ? Aim a bit higher. Mightnt get there but you'll surpass the lower number.

I admire your positive nature bb

Just remember we have just finished two years where we won 6 games in two years and most week's were not even competitive.

I can imagine 45,000 in 2015 but not next year.

Ah yes, good ol' Jimmy provided a great bandaid solution -- like those before him -- in keeping Melbourne afloat for a few more seasons. His overseeing of Bailey, Schwab, 186 and beyond are indicative of a fantastic stint as club President...

With all due respect, Jimmy was a fantastic man and servent of the club, but his legacy was and will remain the Schwab era of the Melbourne Football Club. Jackson and Roos are basically starting from scratch and have very little to salvage from the era before them. Let's get real.

Jackson has been a far more important figure in 6 months than Stynes was in his time. Granted he demolished the 3-mill debt, but let's not thank Robin Hood for throwing money at a town but being unable to create a system that constructively uses the money to maintain sustainability.

Best we forget the Stynes era. His hard work would have been forgotten and ridiculed if he were still alive considering the eventual path the club took. And yes, I think we'd still be in this position if he were still alive. 186 happened under his watch. Harsh truth.

Theres a lot of folk just needing a reason to get off the mat.

I think it amazing weve managed 33 with the slop weved served up to date.. But take that as your base. Mind boggles.

Theres been a lot of reasons for thousands not to join/rejoin over the decades. things can change...and quickly.

Yes an article today talked about a 12000 member lose over two years! I thought we had gone from 37,000 down to 33,000. That is an amazing stemming of the tide in my opinion. And I think PJ and Roos will move this number forward. The future is up.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
