Roos mentioned on OTC that Dew applied for the position, but that the Swans won't allow him to be interviewed. Roos didn't make it clear as to who first approached who, but I got the impression that maybe Dew made the move.

Isn't that what I said?

Yes, but it wasn't made clear whether Roos approached Drew suggesting he apply for the position or whether Drew applied completely unprompted... that was my point as it was being questioned as to who initiated the contact..

They were negotiating for an extension.

He had 1 year left on his contract, and St Kilda at the time were copping criticism for letting it get to that point when he was clearly one of the best coaches in the game

That's how I remember it. Haven't checked old articles to confirm.

Ahhh ok, Could be right.

According to the AGE - Dew is just applying to be a line coach, I don't think the Swans are doing anything wrong by insisting Dew see out his contract.

There are clearly other issues here for Sydney to deal with but legally they seem to be in the right

I reckon they are pi$$ed at Roos and their position on Dew is reflection of that

Good point.

Sydney's angst has little to do with Dew.

But just on this... then the media is as much to blame *yet again* for this mix up, as it was them stating that he was applying for the senior assistant role at MFC, not a line coach as suggested by UH.

It doesn't actually say that. There's no clarification made.

I think the content of the article has been updated.

I'm sure I read what UH mentioned earlier today when I first looked.

Can't re-check the article at the moment but I did also read or hear comments from Danny Frawley which indicated that Dew wasn't going for the Senior assistant role

I thought I read that as well in the AGE article by Lane - I could be mistaken though

I smell trouble in paradise?

I just wonder with so many on the move outa there, Tudor, Stone, Roosy, others I can't think of right now, that it feels like there is a withering going on there... is Roos baby ailing from the efforts of a few others since?

I just wonder if the values set, aren't quite as much anymore? I just sense things are done quite differently lately?

colless is bailing out, or is he pushed?

According to the Hun, last week we informed Scott Burns he was unsuccessful in his application to be the successor.

Adam Simpson looks to be in the box seat.

thank god for that

Been saying all along i wasnt interested in burns

Reckon he would just be another Mark Neeld

Today at 3 quarter time they interviews Adam Simpson, and i couldn't help but think we were looking at the successor to Roos

You don't see Kirk in the press at all. There's a reason.... he's bordering illiterate.

Tough, very tough player...... senior coach?....... No

He was a commentator last year? he can speak fine, very highly regarded by both Ross Lyon and Paul Roos, been involved at successful clubs, already knows paul roos game plan/ how to implement the bloods culture, there is a pretty strong argument for him to at least be considered as an assistant.

What is Roo's gameplan? I hope he's bloody got a new one for our team.

I think having the assistant with the same mindset re culture, is crucial to this working.

having someone with different ideas re culture, will just smash any gains made in the next 2 - 3 years, when they take over.

we have to instill a club culture & then embed it into our Ethos. it'll take more than 10 years for the whole club to adopt it to its core. to be a part of our beliefs going forward.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
