I think we'll find it hard with some stiff competition in Collingwood. West Coast I'd imagine would be drooling over pick 2 "if" they're prepared to let Shuey go with a year owing - it's a massive bargaining tool. Convincing Shuey is another hurdle and we're best equipped with the size of contract and Paul Roos. The flip side is Collingwood is Collingwood with Buckley and a far superior list bound for finals.

Anyone that thinks we will be able to convince West Coast to give Shuey up for less than pick 2 is kidding themselves. Values change when someone is still in contract.

15 of 21 games in 2012 and 9 of 13 before injury in 2013 were 23 possession+ games. A 60/40 kick to handball split confirms he has a good balance of inside and outside. He averages more than 4 tackles a game and just under a goal a game. That is a strong all round package and is a smart target that will be worthwhile of the pick if we can pull it off.

Agree! I want more than just Shuey for pick 2 also. But if you look from the other side they are saying they would want more than pick 2 for him and he's not leaving anyway? Somethings gotta give! Certainly don't think Shuey alone worth pick 2! 20 maybe?

Are you serious. A discard is not worth anything. So don't go for 2 second rounders to pick 20 and a discard.

Also if we got Shuey that would make Gaff harder to get for us and harder for the Eagles to lose so his price would go up. Adam Simpson isn't going to sell 2 highly valued young midfielders. He wont want to lose 1 and certainly not 2.

Gaff and Shuey are both worth top 10 picks I believe. Both were drafted high, have shown a knack for racking up touches, and are at the age where they will contribute regular football in their prime. They are at a stage where their value is at it's highest because you get instant return and them for the peak of their careers.

The fact that pick 2 is slightly overs for Shuey alone does not help any deal with Gaff. I would be incredibly happy with Shuey for pick 2 and would ask for something more but not expect it and that's only because his injury history suggests some risk on our part. Otherwise he fits in talent wise for a pick 2 player and satisfies the immediate impact return which is the entire reason we are trading this pick. If we want to get the absolute best available we keep the pick and hit the draft. But Roos and co have admitted that trading the pick for instant improvement to aid the entire list is of more value.

I think we stick with pick 2. I believe if we want more then they will go after Howie. If Jack Darling leaves then they need another young forward so they will go after either Howe or Fitz and Howe would suit them better out at Subiaco.

Pick 2, whilst he might be a good kid and test well, he will take years to develop.

After a few years of development, there is no guarantee pick 2 will be anything better than a C-grader.

Shuey and Sloane are ready made, both are B+ graders with the potential to put into that elite bracket.

Both players would arguably be automatically our best player - especially in Sloanes case.

Then there is Rockliff, who I'd probably slot in the A grade bracket already - with possibly even more upside to both Sloane or Shuey.
I think Rockliff should be our target.

I must say I find it funny that few people regarded Rockliff as high as they do now since the 2013 Brownlow and related media hype.

I would rank my order of choice as Rockiff, Sloane, (D. Swallow, or S. Selwood here if on the table) then Shuey.
