He's suing for $2mill in lost wages, if mediated I don't know what that will mean, 'Jack' or 'Redleg' would have a better idea of how this works. Apparently the court have ordered the mediation but Robinson seemed pretty keen to clear his name. I don't blame him as Essendon seemed to make him the scapegoat but he still has a family support and court action could prove costly again the legal boys may be able to fill us in and give an opinion on what will happen here.

First call is always Mediation...can last 5 mins...or Depends if yo want your day in court...or your poker ability !!!

Just back in from a long day's work, haven't heard the news all day. First thing I turn to is Demonland. Sorry I've got nothing new to add to the discussion, but I had to say something to someone.

Lemme get this straight. The Bombers have used every delaying trick and barrister in the book - even brought in Neil Young - to avoid having to face the consequences of having pumped their players full of pig effluent...and now Little is trying to get a political crony to call the whole thing off on the grounds that....huh? It's all gone on so long?

Words almost fail me. The effrontery of that man - not to mention the arrogance of the rich.

Mind you, given how much the Libs are piddling in the pockets of people like him, I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled it off.

Has nobody ever said the word WADA to him? Does he propose to blacken the game our kids play - indeed, all of Australian sport - just so that The Annointed One can avoid taking responsibility for his actions?

Scum, the lot of them. Pure, unadulterated, stomach-churning, blood-bubbling scum.

What I don't get is that if little wants the whole thing to 'go away', then answer the show cause notices. He's already said that they believe the players didn't take illegal substances, so why not let it be investigated?

I personally would like wada to handle it, as asada have shown to be gloriously incapable of conducting an investigation - leave it to the governing body.

Even if Essendon do manage to get the interviews etc thrown out, the whole thing will just begin again.

I would have thought that with Essendon being part of the afl, as the governing body is a signatory to the wada code they would be entitled to oblige and cooperate with any investigation.

Which to be honest I thought was what they did as part of a joint investigation.

I have no idea how this is going to play out.

he wants it under the carpet...that's his "away"

its a classic who dunnit really.

Nearly all the main players are compromised in some fashion. Somehow judicious logic must find its way through

The footy show's quoting Paul Little as saying that Middleton has told him that it could be as late as December before a decision - could it really take that long?

Yep. That would be about standard. Judges don't get to hear a case and then retire to review evidence, transcripts and law and then write a judgement. They often have to go straight on to other Court cases and the judgements pile up.

I would say that he will initially isolate his Judgement to the question of whether ASADA had the statutory authority to conduct the investigation the way it did. This is just a legal argument and doesn't require him to sift through the three days of witness evidence. If he decides they did have the power then he doesn't have to go any further, if he decides they didn't then he will look into the three days of evidence in court which is relevant to what remedy he decides to give Essendon and Hird. He may in the end decide to just set aside the Notices knowing that ASADA will just issue new ones or he may decide not to set them aside to save the players from being interviewed all over again.

these guys will litigate until they either a) get off or b) have nowhere else to go.

this will end up in the international court of arbitration for sport in 3 years time.

34 players were identified as having taken banned substances, of those i believe essendon has stated that 14 have already left, we can assume that this latest court room farce will not be resolved until late in the year, say December by then another x number of players would have left or been delisted as they are unlikely to be picked up by another club. ASADA comes back with another show cause notice and Essendon again attempts to stall each time they send it back to court they gain another 4-6 months. they only need to have their lawyers do this another couple of times and they will get the number of players still playing for them who are going to get banned down to a manageable number so that they can then survive a reduced list of 10 or so instead of the original 34. The fact that these guys have taken drugs and are being allowed to continue to play while essendon continues to stall for time is a disgrace, afl should ban them from playing until the matter is resolved.

they can play for time all they like

if they take it all the way to the letter of the law they wont be in the comp for 2 years if they lose, regardless of tv rights or whatever the afl wants.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
