The New Board and FD

I do understand that many are unlikely to remain in current positions for the simple reason many of those jobs will be redrawn. You could well be right rjay that Jackson is operating in the manner you describe.

I think Mahoneys abilities are looked upon favourable by Jackson but where they can be best utilsed in a FD we'll only know when we see the nature of the new beast.

Id be curious as the the model being envisaged. I think Jackson likes efficiency both in design and implementation. ( dont we all ) so am leaning towards a far more streamlined FD ( possibly less personnel ) but with roles expanded somewhat and higher caliber people doing them. Payroll doesnt change a lot but synergies and outcomes would change dramatically.

Decision making becomes more effecient and time spent in 'meetings' decreases. Less talk, more action :)

See it pretty much the same as you here and think that along with the board these things are vital to the clubs future. I have faith that this time we will get it right.

Basically I agree with you and bb.

However I had the same faith in 2008 and look where that ended!

The AFL have stated that they will have a say in the composition of our new board. The Commission meets next Monday to discuss our assistance package, so it may become clearer after that.

Bartlett ! I was worried it may have been Kevin.

Has anyone heard the results of Trotters Audit on the current board.

Or does the amount of resignations suggest the results are done?

I acknowledge that but as the rebuilding of the board is a dynamic and ongoing thing I dont ( for mine ) see why that would wait for an announcement. I think Monday is more about the $ Value and a heads up on where its likley to sway re draft help.

If Chook is right ( and have no reason to suspect he may not be ) then its a very different type of board coming our way. Very business at hand style. A handful of 'outsiders" cant hurt. In a way then wed be just widgets, that is to say the 'blinding' passion and bias would be absent. Not altogether a bad thing in business

I would add " and approve the new board members / President"?

MFC better check on the spelling of his name. It's Glen in the text of the website and Glenn under the photo.

I note he's ex-WCE. As a matter of interest (and this is definitely not be interpreted as any criticism of our new Director) but I couldn't swap allegiances just because I move interstate. Could any of you?

No.

It is good to know he was a Foundation Hero and a member for a few years, the idea of picking up non-Demons for the Board is abhorrent to me.

He played 4 games there 25 years ago. Left in less than harmonious circumstances.

He's a Melbourne supporter since childhood.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    POSTGAME: Rd 09 vs Carlton

The Demons were blown out of the water in the first quarter and clawed their way back into the contest but it was a case of too little too late as they lost another close one to Carlton losing by 1 point at the MCG.
