Not a big fan of Greene to be honest.

Treloar has more polish and pace, but both get a lot of the ball.

I like Treloar but he isn't worth pick 9, maybe a late first round pick

I like it. Get Treloar and a first round pick. We can then trade that pick back to them and pick up Greene. :)

I think GWS rate Greene highly and see him as a 200+ veteran for the club, don't think they will trade him.

I'd happily trade pick 9 for Toby Greene

There are very few players I have 'inside' knowledge on, Greene is one of them. It's a no for me, a profound no. Not now, not ever. Dare I say I'd rather have Scully back than run the gauntlet with poor Toby.

no go on the Kennedy front, said he hadn't heard the rumour and has no intention of leaving the swans. second hand from a mate who played golf with him today.

Not all that devastating. Means we pick a player who will come through with our other young mids.

This really gets my goat

Sylvia harping on from afl.com

"I don't feel like I've reached my potential yet so that’s all ahead of me," he said.

"I'd like to play some more consistent footy. I think I had a pretty consistent year (in 2013) without any real breakout games but I think playing with a football club like Fremantle, they demand excellence and hopefully they can take me to the next level."

I especially like the bit "hopefully they can take me to the next level"

Ah no Colin u should have helped yourself too that would have been nice.

Glad he us gone tbh.

If he made those comments, he is a dead set [censored]!

No IF about it BBO

And he surely is

As a person in the dapths of NSW where we are force-fed every GWS game, Greene didn't impress me much in 2013 compared to 2012.

Posted

Yeah. Greene's stats in his first year are outstanding. Still solid for his second season, but not as consistent.

I doubt anyone is that surprised by his words.

I had big hesitation about losing Sylvia in terms of on the field, but essentially getting Vince in return is at worst a break even. A 10 year player is gone and I really could not care less.

It certainly puts into perspective his comments at the B&F about asking someone to "sort out" his life membership of the club for him. He was clearly in talks with Freo at that stage. Arrogant arse. You can take your life membership and [censored] off Col.

Let me spell it out for you.

We have a crap midfield.

We have replaced Sylvia with Vince effectively.

We are getting Cross who is 30 and has been delisted by another crap side

We have Tyson who looks great but has never done a pre-season and has played 13 games.

We have Michie who has played 1 game

And you think we have done enough in this trade period. Lets not push it and get "too greedy"

You aren't thinking too clearly are you?

yes you;re correct, the changes to the midfield are not exactly mindblowing, but at least there are serious changes.

last trade period we spent all our money on a forward and picked up some throwaways whose only positive was that they came from good clubs

Having watched Vince a bit as a mate follows the crows and his application and endeavor leaves Col for dead.

a few people I bounced the Kennedy rumour off laughed at it. :(

Capitalism is not capitalism unless both sides benefit from the transaction. If you're taking advantage -- using someone as a means -- then it's not capitalism. That's closer to crony capitalism aka. communism.

Sorry to go 4 pages back, but, um, that is complete bull[censored]

I hate Collingwood with a passion but they are blessed to have Derek Hine.

Don't disagree, but it's easier to get good picks coming in when you're trading good players out:

Dawes last year, Shaw and Thomas this year ... got good picks/trades out all of those.

I don't know him but I don't like the way he struts about the field like he's got a surfboard under each arm, he seems to get a bit of it but got dropped last year because of poor defensive work.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
