Neil Craig is an impressive Human.

Upon stepping into his new role he as approached and discussed everything with energy, knowledge and visible heart.

The man has a heart as big as Phar Lap.

The players obviously really appreciate him.

In saying that I honestly don't know whether he's the man to take the team onwards or not.

If we go in another direction Craig will most likely go.

It's quite a disappointing state of affairs, and one worth noting i feel.

Hehe..wow, we really were starved for a win.

He's been in the job 2 weeks mate. You've gone a tad early on the "Phar Lap heart".

Nice choice of avatar by the way. Bernard is a personal hero of mine.

I thought Ron wasn't doing too well...

For what it's worth I think Craig will be at the club next year. He has the experience that Jackson talks about the club needing.

It's almost at the point where if getting a new coach (ie Paul Roos) would mean losing Neil Craig, the loss would outweigh any potential benefit gained by hiring the new coach.

It's Craig all the way for me, unless we can keep him around AND get Paul Roos. Talk about a dream team. There's no chance of the players not liking those two coaches, both of whom have shown they know a bit about footy too.

Hey, don't worry about it - I'm okay.

At least he has the rest of the season to prove himself, unlike the other candidates. So far I'm a fan and enjoy hearing him speak in the media

Surely PJ will be able to find the incentive to keep Craig at the club, even if it's not in the role of Head Coach. That is if Jacko thinks he should stay and has what we need.

I bloody hope so, he has another year to go on his contract doesn't he? Not with standing the lose of his football knowledge and ability to connect with players another pay out in the $400k mark would just about end it for me.

Agreed. And I'd prefer someone with "a heart as big as the MCG" rather than someone whose heart is merely as big as Phar Lap's.

So far infront of Choco or Eade for mine it is not funny.

If no Roos the job is his if he wants it. Think we would be the type of guy that has an ego that could handle being the alternate.

Personally, I am really warming to Neil Craig. His first address to the players contained a pressure relieving: "The only stat I care about is goals." I have reservations about the one-dimensional style of play he used at Adelaide, but he is an enthusiastic sponge of all things sport (including sports science, which may involve complications down the track), so there's a fair chance he would modify his Adelaide style.

My reservation is that he was overseeing Neeld. And if Neeld failed then Craig failed,

Other than that I like what I see,

Agree on all 3 counts.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
