Absolutely. It's called being politically correct. There is no doubt Craig had a different take on things. Last night showed what a performance looks like if you have 22 blokes committed to even the most basic of game plans. Maybe Craig was thanking Neeld for his crap performance which lead to draft picks. Who knows.

I have and am a big fan of Watts, his last 2 weeks in particular seem to show he may have turned the corner, we criticise Neeld for playing him in the backline but I think that just showed Jack how hard forwards work having to chase them around for 18 months. I also think that since Jackson organized a bit of time with Jobe Watson, Watts' work ethic has gone up another notch.

Great to see him dominate an average backline in the Doggies last night (mind you Morris is a good but is on his own back there) however I hope he can play like that against the Swans next week as being a tougher assignment if he can bag another 3 or 4 against them what it would do for his confidence could set him up for a big 2014!

You'd hope so mate, he's been terrible thus far. His lack of physicality is almost beyond comprehension. But, it is what it is and we're seeing microscopic improvement.

Probably the best thing I've seen Watts do was take that game saving mark in the dying moments.

Mate, Nicnat has been an absolute Jet and on Thursday night played injured.

There's no question that when you say who'd you rather Watts or Nicnat youd have to say Nicnat, AT THE MOMENT.

I do believe Watts has the potential to be better than him though.

Also i used to get alot of flack between who's better; Hurley or Watts

Nathan Jones just said on the sunday footy show that Neil Craig has been a mentor for Watts the last couple of weeks as he was struggling with confidence.

Btw NG is doing his chances no harm in regards to coaching next year.

His intensity has lifted and so has his output. No surprise that on QB he obviously decided he wasn't going to let the pies bully him and have a crack and he played well. And then he just followed it on last week and again this week.

Now the opponents haven't always been great but Watts got some distance on the lead from Dale Morris and grabbed a mark. And who knows how that ridiculous goal kicking worked but lets be thankful it did.

I fully agree Jack Watts is beginning show some of his true potential. Confidence is an intangible variable isn't it. As alluded earlier in the tread it appears our list is beginning to get a plethora of forward talent. I think JW has the skills and talent to be moved into the midfield and be an attacking tall midfielder in the same ilk as Andrew Emberley at his prime.

Don't think so. Watts up and about energizes the other players and the crowd. He also goes from a bit of a liability when he's bad to a real positive when he's on.

The other consistency between those games were:

1. Forward targets - Watts in both, Rivers and Garland v Ess, Dawes and Fitzy this year. I can't help but think the confidence you gain from having some score board result and ability to keep the ball forward that comes from a couple of big blokes being forward.

2. Cold wet nights with dour defense. I think against Essendon last year Joel and Tommy Mac put on a clinic against 2 of their better forwards and the backline as a whole stood strong and made it tough for them to score at all. This year the backline has been a real mess but finally Garland and Frawley are in form and back together, McDonald is fit, Terlich is in top form and Clisby looks reasonable. The last quarter showed it all counts for nothing if the midfield is totally copping a pasting - and most goals came from the midfield or midfielders anyway but the first 3/4 showed what this group can do.

He's a forward and plays his best football there; as I said in another thread give him 2 more years and he'll be a very good footballer. Bit of size a bit of maturity and you'll begin to see what all the fuss was about.

Mark Neeld had some great ideas i have no doubt. But he was not a good communicator, there was a fear in the team to not make a mistake or break a structure.

I look forward to how the side attacks the Swans next week.

Just have a real crack Demons. We do have some talent. Right now it is a little bruised.
