Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Its absolutely true.

He had queries on his disposal in the under 18's too.

Go watch him play for Port, the guy is a terrible kick.

yeah he's not that bad mate, Ollie is going to be a future star.

The disposal will get better, just like Toumpas will get better.

I have no doubt that Toumpas, Wines and Viney are going to be 3 stars of the future

Let's not get too carried away yet, remember once upon a time it was 'Morton, Scully and Trengove who were going to be stars'. Let's not burden them with that tag yet.

Jimmy Toumpas is going to be better than those 3 although Trengove will be a 200 game player as well. l thought early in the year we should have taken Wines but now l think we did the right thing.

If there's a more disappointing player running around in the AFL than Trengove tell me who it is.

We ALL know the excuses, but something seriously isn't right. He's border-line Amateur A-grade at the moment and that's at odds with what I saw when he was a teenager. Something horrible has gone wrong - injuries, coaching, ???

I don't really need to hear the copious excuses, it's just sad watching him play.

Not sure I would say Amateur A-grade BH.

But he is nowhere near a number two pick.

I have said this before , he is IMO not a mid fielder.

His best games were when he was played as a half forward.

The Neeld decision to make him and Grimes co captains may go down as one of the silliest decisions of the last decade.

Maybe coincidence but he has been ordinary ever since.

You don't have to look too far to find a more disappointing player in the AFL and that is the bloke selected before him

But there is something wrong with Trengove. He has lost all his kicking penetration and god only knows where his 2.97 sec 20 metre sprint speed has gone from his draft testing. Still got good hands above his head and still has the talent and leadership capabilities

Get the feeling that one day we will find out what has been wrong with Jack and from there he will start to fulfil the potential he showed in his first year

Agree 'Ben', he really looked to be a future champ as a teenager. He still has time and I hope he can get it back together.

Tremgove was tracking beautifully at the end of 2011, his 2nd season.

Averaged over 20 touches, and i think came top 5 in the Bluey despite missing 3 games.

So what happened?

Mark Neeld came in

He was burdened with the captaincy

I dont subscribe to the the theory he has an ongoing injury. You telling me hes been carrying an injury since round 1 , 2012?

Anyway hes had 20+ touches the last three weeks so I think the tide might be slowly turning.

It's not the touches, he's having to scavenge (it's the only word I can think of) for them and a player of his class should be making it look a lot easier than it is. Then he is not really doing a lot with them, i don't know what the efficiency stats show and I don't really care, he has no penetration at the contest or with the ball and should be bringing others into the game at a bare minimum.

He's not on his own there. It is testament to the kid that he still has a go, given the environment he has had to endure of more recent times.

The malaise in some players on the list - who we all know should be better - is symptomatic of the root cause. That is, for too long, this club has viewed first round draft picks as a panacea, without continuing to develop from within, in terms of skill improvement, leadership and culture with existing lists.

Whoever takes the coaching reins in 2014, will have this to fix, as one of their main briefs.

If Trengove can no longer run fast, I suggest they bulk him up with another 6 KG of muscle and get him bullocking out of the clearances to help out Jones.

Another handful of games and a good preseason will help immensely.

That and team mates on the field like Viney . JV wont ignore Dimitri !!

Part of the problem ( seriously ) is that Toumpas runs to where you can and should. For the better part of the last 18 months or so they have been conditioned to send the ball to positions that dont coincide with this kind of thinking ( spread )

It'll work out. Its also beholding on the Toump to make his case, be authorative but that will only come with time. ( and experience )

Give the guy an opportunity under a creative rather than a negating coach and he may well blossom.

21 disposals 7 tackles and was clean today. Was by far jimmy's best game this year and starting to look like he is adjusting to the tempo.

Will be a very good footballer for us for many years to come.

Another pre season, bigger, faster and more confidence will do him well.

Keep it up Jimmy!

Was just interviewed on triple M and said that he had little pre season and found it hard at the start but now he is getting more confident and running out games well.

Good to hear - and what some seem to forget despite being reminded, is that Toumpass is playing in a very poor midfield as compared to Wines. (Hypothetically) swap them for a few weeks and you may be surprised.

I'd offer Scully up as being more disappointing, but the point is still valid.

Trengove's not playing very good football at the moment. The fact that we're lauding his ability to achieve 20 disposals three consecutive weeks is, IMO, an indictment on his status.

If it's mental, take the captaincy from him (this should be done anyway). If it's injuries, then hopefully with time he'll begin to improve, but right now he's a long way from good enough IMO. He might need to shed a kilo or two to pick up some pace, as I feel his game is being severely impacted by his lack of ability to get to enough contests.

Very confident Trengove will be fine when he gets an injury free run at it, his situation hasn't changed since we found out he had a stress fracture at the start of the year.

Jimmy toumpas has really impressed me, i think he best attributes are above the shoulders in terms of helping the club, he is a very enthusiastic young man and brings alot of positive energy to the group

He's what 18? no need to panic.

Tell me one squib who is no longer a squib in the AFL? Bryce Gibbs was a squib when he was drafted, still is. And prime example was Cale Morton. Don't kid yourself, this is ingrained in him

Bryce gibbs is a pretty handy player mate, doubt there would be another team that would not be all over him if he wanted to leave the blues, and cale morton may have just been a dud pick.

Watson had bad disposal and his git better. But then players like Rhys Palmer burst onto the scene like Wines and people assume they will turn from talented youngster into a star but that doesnt always translate Edited by Crackers

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
