From his body language ,detailed comments on the players and the reaction and banter of gh and ms ,I reckon he is our next coach .

I reckon it was an almost done deal from the moment the AFL got involved.

The last couple of weeks efforts probably sealed it.

We've got a good team with a C grade midfield. If Roos can land a good FA and we draft / trade well for others we're on our way.

I really believe Paul Roos could get the best out of Sylvia, trenners and Watts and we would improve drastically! won't hold my breath but a port adelaide like revival isn't out of the question.

I know it's probably not the thread to discuss it, but Roos was quite firm in his assessment of Terlich. Basically said that it's all well and good to collect 27 disposals across half back, but if your man kicks 4 or 5 on you, how well have you really played? I like it. Also really enjoyed Roos' assessment of Terlich and Matt Jones' work rate in two passages of play.

Yes it is. Until we get a midfield, nothing will change drastically. Port already had the makings of a good midfield. They just either couldn't get on the park or were young. Ollie Wines has obviously helped their midfield group as well.

It's a great pity Viney hasn't played every game this season. It just means he'll take longer to adjust to AFL level. He'll almost be like a first year player next year.

Agree but i am firm in the belief that picking Toumpas will prove to be the correct decision, it may just take time.

Roos would demand a huge amount of respect from the first minute and members and sponsors would jump on board, really hope we get him signed

I think we can be certain that regardless of who ends up coaching the MFC, the first item on their shopping list will be one, or possibly two, experienced mid(s). And with at least one high draft pick (pick 2 or 3), no doubt the aim will be to bring in a potential star mid.

How ironic Terlich spent a year under Roos too.

I attended yesterday's pre-game function for interstate members hosted by Robbo. He volunteered that Roos is widely regarded as the best available coach out there, and the MFC is doing everything in it's power to sign him for next year. Part of this was typical Robbo showmanship, but there was a clear indication that the potential appointment of Roos is still very much part of the MFC agenda.

Roos would be great to sell hope and get us more competitive.

I hope we do the right thing by Craig given he is developing a strong relationship with the players.

I just hope Craig has a role come 2014. What a legend he is

No reason why Craig would not go back to his previous position.

Totally agree. I wasn't advocating the drafting of Wines over Toumpas. I think the latter will be a fine player. But it was worth noting (before Wines) Port already had the makings of a good young midfield.

Don't you worry, my fingers are crossed for Roos as well.

His body language tonight was noticably different. Might be reading too much into it, but I actually think there's a decent chance now.

Very good point, DD. Hadn't occurred to me.

Easier said than done, H. I like the idea of Cross and Dal Santo, but can't see them making a drastic change either. We also have to get them here. Granted, Roos as coach might open a few doors.

I got the distinct impression they knew something or it was set up teasing. Fact is he didn't say no etc.

Mike clearly said 2weeks and no denial.

Mucking around or was it serious.?

Aside from that interesting comments on fitz and terlich

My opinion is that it's a done deal, Paul Roos will be our coach in 2014 and is probably going as far as planning assistants and having an input into things already, craig also not being willing to commit to applying for the job to me is a clue that he knows something we don't.

if all this comes to pass it will be a fantastic outcome for the MFC providing craig also stays on.
