I thought he showed potential in the back line yesterday. He finished with 8 marks and 23 touches. If he works on his one on one on bit more he could be a handy player to have in the back 6. He can play forward as well.

He went back with the flight a few times and took the mark so I'm not gonna knock him for squibbing a contest. Though he does need work on his body work though it's probably the first time he has played as a defender at AFL level so I'll cut him some slack.

Lynch (who has lost his pace and kicking distance) had 5 shots on goal on Pedersen. Sure Pedersen can get involved in play a bit but he doesn't defend any better than Sellar.

I had no faith in either Pedersen, Sellar or Gillies and the next option should be Davis (who I'm not convinced about either).

Pedersen has some flaws, but he's far more creative and certainly much quicker than Sellar. It's like we've upgraded from The Reject Store to KMart when we really need David Jones...to go with Nathan and Matt.

why would you want david jones? high price standard quality... we already have a few of those types i think. Better off going with amazon or something that will still be operating in ten years time. :-)

He plays on his own terms. Like Dunn, he hears footsteps and doesn't fully commit to some marking contests.

I'm not surprised at the criticsm of Cam, most (if not all) games he's played he's been poor. But I am certainly in the camp that thought he was quite good on the weekend. It's a difficult ask playing in the defence for Melbourne at the moment but I thought he came off his player and made some important contests quite a few times and took some telling interception marks. I can't actually recall the contest he apparently squibbed but I will assume it was bad.

Ultimately he was fighting a losing battle much like Garlo was. But I thought I saw some potential in there.

As BH has so gracefully illustrated, he remains tarnished by what he did in Round 1.

He is a good footy player and I hope he finds a spot (if for no other reason than to get something out of that McLean trade...).

He took short steps yesterday. Weren't you at the game ?

I also saw him do it in the VFL in the game that was televised a few weeks back. Some of you people need to learn how to watch footy.

I used to enjoy reading your posts mate but they have really gone downhill of late. The arrogance and self importance is beginning to shine through more than ever.

Why? Do blinkers improve the ability to focus?

For what it's worth, there is upside to Pedersen. As I posted in another thread he is a good reader of the play, as evidenced by his intercept marks. Not bad in the air, marking and spoiling but he cannot kick.

I'll just have to check now and then to see if you are commentating on footy or having a go at other posters.

Have never been sold on Pederson, expressed my reservations through the preseason.

BH is just calling it as he sees it, different to what he thought of Peders in the preseason BTW.

Neither but as the season has progressed I have seen a bit more to like. Not enough to convince me that he has a lot longer left though.

I have no problems with different opinions, just comments like 'Some of you people need to learn how to watch footy'. Unnecessary I think

I don't think he's up to it, pure & simple. Same goes for Gillies, and for that matter Rodan, much as he tries. FWIW I would take Sellar over Pedo or Gillies any day, though would agree that is not saying much at this point.

... maybe not yet but he will get to more contests with better agility.

I think he's not competing with Seller, re list position... I think he's competing with JMac & the other 3rd tall defenders, as well as 3rd tall forwards.

I can also see him eventually play cameo's at CHF occasionally, al la judy giles once did.

has improved and i think was quite good yesterday.

Needs to be in the side until Frawley is back.

Could be worth giving Davis a go too, he has been playing well in the seconds the last few weeks.

Some of "you people" need to consider the objectification of women. I can only assume you're a misogynist as well as an arrogant know-all; and once I put you in that category I can only put you on ignore. Grow up and be a real man instead of behaving like a prepubescent schoolboy.

Not only that, he actually took a mark while ducking his head with little pressure. Was just lucky to hold onto it.

And, as you keep telling everyone, you don't have to read me either. There is no need to make your lack of repect for everyone here so evident.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
