Dylan Shiel

Recommended Posts

Absolutely we should trade pick 2 for Shiels. This bloke considered a top 3 pick before he was initially pre picked for the Giants. Killed us the first time this year with his gut running and speed. Highly regarded for his leadership too.

I'm a big Dylan Shiel fan.

Dylan SHiel is the kind of player that other players want to go into battle with him by their side

He is a warrior and a born leader

I am not sure Aish will be that type oif player

If we can get Shiel for pick 2 i will do cartwheels

Why on earth would gws give up a young gun that's shown alot of promise at the highest level for an unknown. I love the trade whispers as much as the next but cant see GWS playing that game

Because we have most likely offered Shiel a massive contact aided by the lure of playing under Paul Roos, and we can compentae GWS failry with pick 2

If Shiel wants to play for us, he will

You would assume "talks starting" really means we've been talking to Shiel's management for some time and we've offered him a pretty attractive contract and now it's a matter of whether GWS is prepared to let a contracted player leave.

Yep. It appears that we've been chatting and that he's coming back to Melbourne either now or at the end of his contract.

It's just a matter of whether or not GWS want to trade now or later. We just have to make a fair offer.

As I posted a couple of days ago, the only way I can see us getting real star power for our pick 2 is by going to GWS or GC. Shiel would exceed my expectations. So many times trade week raises expectations and then disappoints. Let's hope this is the exception. With Roos/Jackson there's a definite belief that whilst unlikely, scenarios like Shiel to Melbourne are indeed possible. It's exactly what we need. If it comes down to pure money, he should be ours.

Went to high school with Dyl before he defected to Caulfield Grammar.. From when he was a junior, you could always tell he was destined for big things in footy - one of those likely types. Has always had a great build too. He's quick, strong, and skillful (with a hint of arrogance too :) ).

^This video shows a mix of current and junior footy of his (ignore the terrible music)

It would exceed mine too.

I think that it would be money, but I think pick 2 is the chip that no other team can match. Shiel will know that if he nominates us then the deal can be done, which can't be said of most clubs. But clearly Dylan will become a very rich man if he comes to us.

Yep we're the only team in Victoria with the cash/pick combo to lure an interstate player home. I can't believe the Longer situation. Pick 7 a couple of years ago. Decides he's homesick, nominates the reigning premier as his preferred club (with the last first round pick) and is still contracted until the end of next year. Hawthorn then have the gall to suggest that they'd like Longer but don't want to use their first round draft pick. At least in the Shiel situation we'll be able to provide adequate compensation to GWS.

Not this year if they don't want him to. Shiel is under contract remember?

For him to break that to come to us would cost him a lot.

How about this for a deal: Shiel for 2 clean.

GWS can not do a deal with Adams' selected club.

PSD2.

Now that would be very handy.

Devious genius. I love it.

Would have to stay quiet so Adams never knew.

And it'd take a certain element of trust from us in GWS unless the trade went through at the absolute last minute, and even then we'd have to trust they wouldn't keep Adams themselves.

Fortunately, I think we have built a trading relationship with GWS over the Hogan/Viney/Barry deal last season.

Agreed - I guess if you put yourself in the oppositions shoes - Why would you give up a future midfield star of 21-24 who has shown a lot and is just on the verge of greatness for a pick 2 potential midfield star (Aish). It would be different if it was pick 1 (Boyd).

We need to identify the players we want and get under their skin - big contracts is really the only way I think and maybe advertise the whole living in Melb/team on the rise. We need to get the player(s) to make us our preferred destination and be begging for a trade and then we talk to their club (that's going to be tough).

We have to try and take advantage of this whole home sick saga.

I am 20 years old and have been a member for just as many years, although my puppies are just 3 months old!

Sorry mate it was an attempt at humour after a few beers, your pups will be a welcome addition as are you to demonland. I too would be more than happy with Sheil and Jones.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
