Suns chase Frawley

i dont get why anyone would want to go to Stkilda.

They are gonna be major losers in time to come. Theyll be down the bottom for atleast 3-5 years

Hmmmmmm about the same amount of time before Neeld thinks we'll be competitive...

All these posts do is make something a self-fulfilling phophesy, much like the debate on what the penalty would be for tanking. if we all stopped talking about it, it just might not happen [same thing with Watts and Sylvia]!

It's starting.... Those who think Neeld isn't damaging the club, please start taking note of the list of players beginning to line up for the door

I love it! Can only drive up the asking price and we can stop kidding around with this outside flanker and get in some hard running hard nose midfielders.

Yeah let's get rid of a talented number 1 draft pick that a terrible coach keeps playing out of position and bring in some more Jordie McKenzies.... Great idea....

'Sources yesterday told the Herald Sun the versatile playmaker wanted a fresh start next season, save for a major change of fortune at Melbourne in the second half of the season.' - one assumes the source is Watts manager. Perhaps the mate of Grand new flag.

Like the bit about 'save for a major change of fortune" - code for save for Mark Neeld getting sacked. I'm assuming the source has put this out there to put pressure on the club to sack Neeld. I don't like that sort of tactic but probably indicates Watts unhappy.

I would hate to lose Watts. The tragic irony would be that my prediction of him making AA in a couple of years would come true, just not as a demon player.

To be honest, it wouldn't be the end of the world. McDonald, Garland and Sellar are all capable (or better) defenders, and as long as we traded Frawley this year, we would get some pretty good compensation. Our defence and forward lines are both pretty much ready to roll, and losing Frawley could net us two excellent young midfielders.

I don't know if I'd willingly do it, but if he wants to leave I think we could swing it so that it isn't the end of the world.

McDonald has been [censored] this season, Sellar isn't anything more than honest and Garland plays his best football in the Rivers position.

It's like people calling for Jamar to be out, and then coming back like dogs when they saw Spencer ruck.

Frawley is one of the best FB's in the league, if he wants to walk out it's just another hammer into the Melbourne Football Club.

And as someone said earlier, isn't it against the rules to approach players under contract?

I felt that the article Implied that GC & GWS approached the club expressing their interest. No doubt chips manager is across all of the possible outcomes.

[censored] YEAH! More inside midfielders. Like we don't have enough C grade VFL hard nuts.

As I said in the other thread, we lose all of Sylvia, Frawley and Watts, we're [censored]. Who replaces them? No-one wants to come here now. Certainly no-one with any sniff of talent.

this is why we have to land a Roos or Choco,

We are absolutely screwed if we don't land a big name coach.

Pedersen, Rodan, Byrnes?

All great boys, bring a lot to the track, respected by the group etc. etc. Mark Neeld is a clown.

Don't forget that big Max has put off his contract talks

that's more to raise his value. Given his lack of games over his career so far, he'd be as cheap as chips to sign up now, his manager knows this. Waiting until the end of the year allows for a greater contract if he is able to put together a good season, fitness and form wise.

If Max Gawn leaves Melbourne I will eat my hat. I never wear hats, but this will be a special occasion so I think I'll splurge for a big one.

I dont think I can remember the MFC being in such a dire position with players wanting to leave.

Neeld is a nut job and he needs to go. He has actually made us worse which I thought was not possible and is driving players away to top it off (and he wants another 3.5 yrs).

Its like being in a horror movie which never ends with Neeld is the star.

If we can land a BIG NAME coach (Roos, Choco, Eade etc) I am sure the players would rethink leaving but this needs to happen NOW not at the end of the season.

I really hope for all us supporters (and players) this is happening.

If anyone on here has a contact which is reliable with what is going on PLEASE give us some hope?

No, GNF was insisting his "source/sauce" was claiming Jack was off to Carlton.

I think the MFC finds itself in a difficult spot re the re signing of players.

I have been a critic of the way our club has operated.

However I think we should all take into consideration that the football world changed with the introduction of free agency.

Players are now faced with a world that is way more open to greater player movement than in previous times.

Few players will now commit to there current employer to early in the year their contract comes due.

It does not make sense to commit your self when the field of opportunity may change dramatically as the year comes to an end.

I cannot imagine that the FD is not talking to the management of our players with the view to signing them asap.

Some will stay overs may not we are in a brave new world we just have to be a little more patient than in the past.

I hope to god the FD can keep the current good players that are up for negotiation but If they cannot get them all across the line.

I hope they can a good deal for the loss if it happens

Look frawley is gone I think we can all see the painting on the wall. If he was to leave I would rather this year so we can get something decent back like a midfielder (Prestia) or first round draft pick.

Its sad but I think Neeld has to go with the amount of players lining up for the door..

And just who are all of these players lining up at the door? I can think of three who are RUMOURED to be doing so (Watts, Frawley and Sylvia) and of those, just as an example, AFL360 believed only Sylvia was a definite leaver.

Yeah i agree, who else is out of contract, terlich, matt jones, Gawn? we gave the first two their crack at AFL and Gawn we have been loyal and paitent with, reckon Col might chase a flag and that's probably fair enough but i reckon we will manage to hang on to the other two

Remind me just how well Jack was going up forward before Neeld moved him to the back line. And then please remind me just how poorly Jack played as a back in the second half of last season. As I recall, he has played his best and most consistent football in the back half... and in the long term, learning to play back is going to result in him being a much better forward... a guy named Neitz ring any bells?

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
