6. James Frawley

For his post match interview when Matt Burghan asks how he thinks we will go against Freo. "Yeah, it will be a good challenge, fly up there in a plane". Love his interviews.

1. Davey (was everywhere today and realy think that his most damaging position is that rebounding spot (defensive wing to back flank) we need someone to create play from there)

2. Garland (Really finding composure and confidence)

3. Terlich (Really playing a role in the team - similar to Matty Whelan?)

4. M Jones (Just is playing like a miny N Jones - love his composure in congestion and one of the few you won't see handballing to a player in a worse position)

5. Dawes (Massive presence, made me have no dought that he is a leader and loved when he applauded one of the center clerances and then the whole team applauded it)

6. Dunn (Probably the most underated player on here at the moment - is defensive but then also has the ability/confidence to drift off his man and do damage)

Just to tough to pick!

Would have had Dawes up near the top if it wasn't for his 3rd quarter

Wow. Didn't see that coming.

He's not underrated. He's a hack.

Garland - no! What did he do, stop Jake King! Howe! Double no! He couldn't buy a kick forward and wasn't great as loose man down back.

6 - Dunn. Kept his man to two disposals for the game and kicked two goals while playing as full back.

5 - Terlich. Team high tackles, plenty of the ball and he's demanding it off half back and taking responsibility for setting up the play.

4 - Davey. A very welcome return to form from him. Could have had more goals had he been selfish in his play, and set up plenty of attacking moves with his precise kicking.

3 - Jamar. I know people will say he didn't do enough around the ground, but he had more hitouts than the entire opposition and that made a huge difference to our work in the middle.

2 - Magner. We've missed his hardness at stoppages. He makes a huge difference to our ability to get first chance at the ball.

1 - N Jones. As always, works hard all day through the middle. Had a hard time today, but he stuck to it and mostly broke even with Cotchin.

Despite the poor finish, we had some players out there this week ... 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1

sellar goes alright down back. should leave him there and let him settle. provide some competition for mcdonald. cant hold a mark but perhaps thats just confidence and may improve with a string of games in the back line. he is NOT a forward Neeldy

i thought this was an opinion site howe working tirelessly to draw his opponent away from the hole in front of dawes when he was leading. he prevented tiges going two up on dawes. when down back stood in the hole in front of vickery & riewoldt. was prepared to go 2nd/3rd man up when needed. garland beat his man made the decision several times to attack the loose ball and provide some rebound.

In what is a really disappointing year it's good to see two good players in Terlich and Jones M emerge from the state based comps.

6 - Davey ( creative and sublime disposal )

5 - Frawley ( loves the Riewoldt contest , and held his own despite the regularity of entry)

4 - Dunn ( good at both ends , and his kicking to advantage was noted )

3 - Howe ( excellent with the ball, but I wish he'd get it more)

2 - Terlich ( sees ball and gets it )

1 - Magner ( an encouraging return )

Dunn's "kicking to advantage"? Really? Apart from his two goals (which were both excellent kicks), I thought his kicking was quite poor.

It is very refreshing to see that Nate Jones is no longer getting the six points very week. This isn't a reflection on him as he continues to produce week-in week-out, but rather on the fact that there are now others in the side who are giving him a hand and working hard as well. This as much as anything is a sign that things are improving for us.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
