Stuie since your an expert at stat analysis can you explain to me how Essendon lost to the Lions yesterday - from what i saw Essenscum won all the stats

My point is you need to win the ball - and yes Neeld can be blamed for that.... quoting [censored] stats doesn't win the argument

Mate, I said we tackled more under Bailey, someone said "I call bulls#$t", so I posted the stats.

But you're right, stats, scores etc don't matter hey, Neeld is doing a great job....

Mark Neeld says Dees will take up to five years to rebuild. Mitch Clark says that comes as "a little bit" of a shock on @3AWisfootball

Neeld has gone ultra defensive with that stat but I believe what he says considering our form coming in to 2013.... I don' tthink (hope) we won't be super [censored] for another few years but if you look at teams like the Lions, Gold Coast and the Dogs it's not going to turn around overnight even with a new coach... that is for sure

Need to win the ball Stuie - how would you rate our ability at doing that for the last 4 years??

Do you think it is a coaches instruction to bomb the ball when in possession? I mean seriously look at the Bombers stats v the lions and explain how the lost

Lets get back to the thread title Stuie

From where we are now - how long do you realistically see the MFC being able to turn it around? Feel free to use stats

Neeld is trying to save his job, we should be competitive right now, there are no excuses, GWS are competitive on the most part, Gold coast who most considered us on par with are more than competitive

do everyone involved with Melbourne football club a favour and move him on.

Forget about the supporters.

Imagine if you were the marketing manager of a company that sponsors the club?

No one in their right mind wants to be part of an organisation that openly admits to being crap for 4-5 years. Like, literally comes out and say, "we'll be [censored] for the next 5 years".

Okay well figuratively but he may as well say that.

Perhaps Mark needs to get a lot better at saying nothing - like Allan Jeans.

Some of what Mark Neeld has said ...

"We will be the hardest team to play against"

"I will give you a game plan"

"Success may come a lot quicker that we think"

"Don't worry about the negative headlines, just focus on the club"

"You can expect these boys to be seriously competitive for longer this year"

"We didn't see that coming"

"Any of you people in the media got any ideas?"

"The players will need 3 or 4 years to learn the game plan"

"The players will need 3 full pre-seasons to get fit"

''Our aim is to be competitive for as long as we possibly can and that's where we're at,''

"It will take 3-5 years to get this team up to a competitive level"

"It will take up to 5 years to rebuild"

"We are at GWS level"

The guy said 2-3 years when he started - that is 1-2 max from now. A "reasonable expectation" when he arrived was that we would be playing OK (hate the word but "competitive") 2013 ie now, and really well by 2014.

I have been extremely patient and supportive but enough is enough.

MOVE ON MARK. You have lost everyone.

I really liked his season launch speech " you can expect these boys to be seriously competitive for longer this year "

and then the season started, he has somehow topped how bad the start to last season was, we have gone further backwards and he has lost the players and fans, peter jackson must make his first head roll.

One week at a time.....so boring yet so successful.

He let the team do the talking with their actions and what a team they were.

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
