Heard on footy show from Barrett that Neil Craig is under scrutiny internally as the club were not 100% happy with his responses when interviewed about the drug issues.

Whoever is in the reporting line between Dr Bates and the CEO should be definitely in the gun for not knowing what was happening in their area of responsibility. Not good at all.

Barrett is a [censored].

Ugh.

You'd have thought Misson was in there as well, some where.

Well the reporting lines of the FD were fuzzy according to Jackson.

But it could be Misson if Bates reported to Misson and Misson to Craig.

Regardless I think Bates is gone once the AFL/ASADA investigation is finished no matter the outcome. His faliure to come clean on Dank contact and the program has humiliated the Club.

The other big question is who else knew what Bates was up to? All have denied but if Bates were to establish proof of awareness of people up the line that they knew and did not pass it to the then CEO they themselves are in the frypan.

Agreed re Bate, but not the point of this thread.

  • David Misson – Elite Performance Manager
  • Neil Craig - Director Of Sports Performance

If there was a supplement program you'd have thought they would be in the know (or should have been).

The purple headed warrior also said that he spoke with Neeld and Neeld is defiant and is sticking to his 5 year plan.

Neeld said he would be shocked to be sacked!

If Neeld said this, he is totally delusional. Beggars belief.

I think you'll be surprised at his staying power

Great.

He'll be the only one there: no players, officials, supporters....lmao

This is unrelated to the drug issue, but I've never been particularly impressed with Neil Craig at our club. Whenever I see him, he just seems to be sitting quietly with his arms folded.

What's the deal with that?

No doubt he is strong in his beliefs however, is anyone else in the tent with him? Me thinks not.

If Barrett or anyone for that matter really believed that Neeld would say anything else and that he believed it then they would be delusional.

I rather liked his breakdown of what Neeld told him. It sounds very much like what someone wrote on these boards a couple of days ago actually. Who was that again?

I find this rather funny to be honest. We "need someone who can sell hope" do we? I'd rather have someone who is honest and tells us the truth. Neeld told us right from the start that the team was a shambles and it would take time to fix. He's not even halfway through his contract and people are calling for his head because it's turned out to be true. Before this season he said they weren't up to the standard he wants and there are still holes to fill in the list. He hasn't tried to sell us hope, he's sold us reality. The reality is that you don't fix a team as messed up as ours in one year. The reality is that if we sack him now we'll have another coach starting from scratch with another new message and we'll be a year and a half further back. The hope I hold onto is that Neeld is right and with time, fitness and experience these players will gel into a cohesive unit that can get the job done. I'm willing to back him for another year to see if he can make it happen.

All well and good, however we are going backwards under him and it is disgraceful football to watch. I've had enough

Barrett throws up a tidbit and all the sheep rush to gobble it up, believe next headline is going to be "players not happy with Property Manager, he uses cheap detergent he bought from a disreputable supplier and now the shirts aren't as soft"

Anybody on here actually been at any of these meetings, er no, didn't think so

Funny, I thought most replies here were something along the lines of Barrett being a .......[censored], dweeb etc..

No need to run in support here 'Sat' most are not buying in to Barrett.

That being said I'm sure that Craig is under scrutiny, there is no story in that. The position he holds demands it.

I am reminded of the pre-season practice match at Casey, when the Scorpions played Port Melbourne. There were 9 MFC listed players in the Scorpions side. Understandably, the MFC players, which included Mitch Clark, Trenners, Blease et al, required match fitness. What I found strange was Neeld and Craig standing upstairs, while Misson called the rotations at boundary level. While I understand this may have been done with fitness in mind, I could not understand how this would not have been done in conjunction with the football people who are in charge. There was no communication between the 2 parties and I was standing right next to Misson at the time in question.

Under the current model Misson reports to the CEO and Craig.

Craig reports to the CEO and the Senior Coach.

It's hard to say whom the Doc thought he might need to report to from the flow chart.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
