Pre season we gave away a high first round pick for Cam Pederson.

Two weeks ago he played in a forward line where Clark was playing. So also in the team were Jamar and Watts. Pederson kicked 2.

Last week Clark was out but Watts played half a game forward. Pederson played, poorly I thought.

But this week injuries took out all of Clark, jamar and Watts. Yet Pederson was dropped meaning we had no forward talls except the resting rucks, and half the time one was on the bench.

Surely Pederson Had to play this week, or if he was considered TOO bad last game, Sellar. Or Fitzpatrick. SOMEONE!. It was plain that our mids would be under pressure. They were. When under pressure it's a reasonable option to kick long towards the square. Time and again today this option was not available. Pathetic coaching blunder--not just Neeld of course, the whole mob.

If you reckon not picking Pedo lost us the game, then i don't know what to say to you. I thought he was in our worst few on ground last week, so I can understand Neeld dropping him. It is just a shame both Clark and Dawes are out. At least we'll get one back this week.

You r missing the point Chook. You have to have one tall on the forward line. Today there were many moment when we had none and Trengove was FF for God's sake,

Trengove was there for a rest. He was not full forward for any other reason. Sure our forward line broke down today, but having Pederson in there would not have helped all that much at all.

Agreed. In any case, Sellar was off sick last week, and is probably underdone (not to mention, has played his only decent football for us down back). Pedersen didn't deserve a place, and Fitzy is probably still considered not AFL fit/ready after coming back from his own injuries and concussion.

You can only pick from available players, or players who've earned a place.

I agree with you to a point. I was hopeful last week but when I saw the team, my shoulders dropped; we were 2 talls short. I couldn't understand it because we could have brought some more height in even if they weren't as ready as we would prefer. The Blues must have chickled when they saw what was put up.

The bungle was in trading for him at all. Pedersen is a lemon. Has ok hands, is an ok kick, slow and with no footy smarts at all. I'm perfectly happy to see him on the sidelines.

Considering we will lose regardless I'd rather lose whilst still playing a structure with traditional sized players. I'd have kept Pedersen. If anything it would free up Howe or Tapscott to get a reasonable sized opponent.

Question is, for all that he is moderately tall, would Pederson actually have taken many marks up forward?

I would guess that in the absence of basically all our key forward options the only way we could be competitive was to get as much running power out on the field as possible.

Well it didn't work. To seeTrengove on Jamieson, to see Henderson dominating , just showed what pathetic thinking it was, if poor Trngove is struggling why on earth put him at FF? I again say that Pederson was poor last week, but you have to maintain structure, and we had none

I just don't think that Neeld is going to gift AFL games after poor performances.

Our forward line was shite and Cam P's influence would have been minimal....but I can see where you're coming from.

I must admit I had expected Garland or Frawley play forward this week. But rather than criticise, I'll say that (1) leaving Garland and Frawley in the backline and (2) playing Dunn on Judd - which occurred because Garland and Frawley both played back - were the correct moves. I thought they were the three of our best on the day.

The bungle was not giving Fitzy a crack.

Maybe too valuable at Casey.

Ahh, common sense! Refreshing.

Surely one of Dawes or Fitzpatrick comes in this week (preferably Dawes, I don't know if I can stomach seeing Fitzpatrick play again).

Actually my stomach turns on some of the complete and utter rubbish posted on here, Pedersen has played 20 AFL games, he is still developing, one of the reasons we traded for him

Second AFL club, 26 yo and only 20 games came to the club underdone for pre season. May tell some of the story as well.

I will give you still developing with Matt Jones as a mature ager first year in the system but Pedesen needs to get a wriggle on.

Love these topics and the posters are the usual members or the Hole in the Head gang, keyboards running hot with negativity, rain clouds hovering

Jones is a differnt type of player, but bloody good on him for doing so well

He was a mature age recruit at North, drafted for a purpose which then didn't eventuate, why was he underdone, proof.

My previous post, nice to see CFB come back with his usual incisive garbage, I await the day when he will actually post something that a. is related to the topic b. not having a go at somebody...but then again I may be in for a long wait

Rodan doesn't have to be in the AFL side to influence, I watched the Casey game and he was one who help drag Casey back into the game in the last qtr, to just fall short

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie
