Oh settle down mate!
Was just passing on what I heard. Does not mean I believe it.
Take a deep breath....!

I've heard some ridiculous comments on these forums as of late but this one is in the top three. Armstrong please refrain from posting if you are going to dish up this unsubstantiated crap. Boy, they are coming out of their holes now.

Perhaps DJR should refrain from telling you whether you should post or not. That's a prime example of keyboard hero gone stupid.

How animated were you expecting him to be?

Well, he's not cut out for a role with the MFC, then I presume he is a "media performer". He sat bolt upright, clearly uncomfortable and allowed his 3 colleagues to make the comments they chose to make. He added nothing to the entire segment really.

Garry is conflicted and not handling it very well at all.

Well, clearly he is conflicted and hence was uncomfortable answering their questions. And clearly he was in full support of Neeld having gone through the process which ended in the selection of Neeld.

The questions were always going to be about his involvement and he confronted the questions. I'm not sure how you feel he added nothing then. Did you expect him to turn all negative and animated on Neeld and his coaching to date?

I doubt anyone would be handling it very well if the very coach you were a party to in selection, has had 79 and 148 point losses in starting the season.

H-T on the show last they mentioned that when he came in as interim footy manager for a coupe of months he had done a review of the footy department. I had forgotten about that. It occurred to me that if he had been thorough in that he would have spoken to the players. If he did surely any one being honest would have brought up any issues they had with the admin team and CS in particular.

I would love Hutchy or Caro to ask him about this.

That is patently obvious HT, but he is a media performer after all. Given his chosen career path he should make editorial comment without fear or favour. Once again, my view is he added nothing of substance to the debate last night, other than saying he could not get involved, doesn't want to get involved and it is time for someone else to do something.

Lyon would have known that Schwab was going down. = won't have a part in the club.

Fair chance he did, he certainly didn't back him in anyway last night.

lyon was doing the right thing by answering only those questions posed directly at him.

whether he/we like it or not if he gets involved in debate then whatever he says becomes the next days headlines.

had he pondered out loud that he thought schwab should go then at the moment of resignation everyone would be saying that it was at lyons behest that the ceo was gone.

it wouldn't worry me that lyon is staying away now if he had've stayed away back in 2011...

seems to me like he is saying "i've made your bed now lay in it"

edit- if brayshaw can juggle all his media commitments and still be president at north then lyon should re-evaluate his position and how much the MFC really means to him

Lyon presided over the appointment of the last 2 coaches yet when it comes to the crunch he walks away, I'd rather not have him involved.

Funny, I didn't hear Lyon offering a morsel of support to Schwab last night

Me neither, I forgot the n't on the did. Will edit if that's ok.

Lyon hides behind the conflict claims.

One of the las things he said was the truth on the matter, he has no interest in doing it.

Why are so many keen on Garry for pres etc. I simply dont think he is the man for the job period. Is he a play maker ? Undoubtedly. But maybe those days need to end in order for a NEW Melbourne to unfold.

So may of the same mistakes get reworked into new directions only to fail.

Time for new people with new impetus. Not meant as a slight to GL. Thanks for the help but its time for anew.

Simple as that

Garry has never been a positive influence on the Club since his playing days. What message does he send to the playing group each week when he picks against us in his footy tipping? His media image is much more important to him than his loyalty to the MFC and when he got involved [e.g. in coach selection] then the results have been less than spectacular. It does not surprise me at all that he is playing 'Pontius Pilate' now that things are genuinely tough and people need to stand up and show some loyalty.

At least the Ox is keen to help, he is having a meeting with DM this Thurs.

"I love the club and it’s very hard to sit back and see the hurt so many Melbourne supporters are going through," said Schwarz, who co-hosts SEN’s late afternoon show "The Run Home."

Can't imagine the Neeld and the footy department would be so keen for him to intervene given his comments in that article

Truth hurts Binman but I am sure they could all move forward as they want what is best for the Dees.

If The Ox can help in any capacity i think it's brilliant. And it says to Lyon, 'I've also got a media career but i can find the time'. Two very different cats. With The Ox, I've always felt its what you see is what you get.

Imagine him helping out Hogan for 12 months.

Garry said he doesn't have the time to get involved. What does he do besides the Classifieds, The Footy Show and Triple M footy? Count his money?

A pretty easy gig I would have thought. I would imagine he has plenty of time on his hands.

He also has no footy commitments from Oct to the start of the each season either.

I don't get some of you people on here. People complain that he should never get involved with the club again and now its the same people rambling on that he doesn't want to get involved! I really feel sorry for Garry when we are going through tough times now because people just now expect he will do all the work! If Garry says he has other commitments then no need to shoot him down! It might be personal commitments that no one knows or other business stuff he has. Not many people also know but after Jim passed away it really hit Garry hard.. He has need a lot of counselling to try and overcome this.. it took a big toll on top off what happened with his personal life which I will not mention. Garry is just starting to get on top of his life now and fixing things that needed to be fixed. He still has a long way to go but he is getting there. I know this because Dads best mate went to school with Garry up here in Kyabram and is still one of Garrys close mates. So before you all spout [censored] about saying he doesn't care about the club etc seriously go jump! The guys bleeds Red and Blue and always will! He is a media personality so its part of his job to say what he thinks!

Terribly disappointed in Gary's attitude

He was at pains to tell us that he stepped into the breach out of love and respect for Jim Stynes. Well if that gesture was genuine, then he would be busting his gut to make sure that his actions lead to the success Jim so desperately wanted to see.

"Sorry Jimma, you probably know by now that I haven't fixed things like you asked me to. . I can't be bothered lifting a finger to help sort things out now As an independent media person, I can't be seen to defend the footy club because it is playing crap footy. Although I was acting director responsible for setting up the current FD, I've decided to keep my mouth shut and let Scwabby carry the can. I'm out Mate."

Too busy Gaz? McGuire and Brayshaw have 5 times the media commitments you have.Don is chairman of Reach - how many Community Service organisations occupy your time?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
