Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sorry but while there's some substance to what Whateley's saying, it's easy to join the chorus after one game and its easy to pick apart and analyse every word that's uttered by officials, coaches and players. I say they need to be given the opportunity to suck in what happened during that game and come out an show us that they can play and do it not just one time but consistently.

The ball is in their court, not just Watts.

As for Whateley, he's joined the tabloid push and in order to conform to its standards, he's declining to its level of mediocrity in reporting/opinion writing. He's spending too much time with Robbo and Black Caviar and his IQ is descending to their level.

Sadly, the competition at the Age has become tabloid too and we're left with nothing except a handful of good football writers in the Sunday Age and Martin Flanagan.

Bad commentator/journalist = anyone who criticises MFC?

Still think the bombers will have a hard tagging forward on Watts. He is damaging with no opponent on him. Jack's problem comes from having an opponent on him. There are plenty of questions on his heart. I don't buy into that. I think he was lost as a forward then found a spot wondering the back line but he gets lost again when someone stays with him all day.

I find in incredulous that Watts is getting all the heat. I find it equally incredulous that Frawley and Garland are not receiving the same media attention. FFS both have been around for a long time.

I don't disagree with that, but we don't know what instructions they are playing to.

Neeld seems to be fairly structured as a coach and if the players are having their natural style cramped you would expect that they won't be performing as they used too.

Just puting it out here.

I reckon Watts will walk away from AFL

When he came back from injury at the end of 2012, he was dreadful. This year he has been dreadful.

Modern AFL requires more than talent/skill, a lot more. Don't think he has the balance.

Don't think so....just needs to go to the lower grades for a while and get some kicks.

I felt sorry for him. The booing and carrying in when he was subbed would be really hard to take. He is on s. t. Ruggle street big time but seeing him fail in front of my and so many people's eyes is hard to watch. I hope it doesn't affect him long term and do some damage long term.

Unless something changes a lot over the next 4 - 6 weeks I can see him either leaving the Dees or leaving footy. I hope he can come back but I personally believe he is not an AFL footballer. Pity - he could be a gun.

Hang on. His second half of 2012 was pretty good. Don't become one of the media vultures that smells a story.

Only one person can answer his growing number of critics, and that is Jack Watts himself: Neeld can't, Schwab can't, Malthouse can't, only Jack.

How much does he really WANT to be a leader in a top club?? I don't mean, like just about anyone, would LIKE to be, but really, passionately WANTS to be.

Mind you similar things could be said of so many at MFC notably Colin Sylvia.

I thought the booing/cheering when he was subbed came from the vast number of Essendon supporters. Please tell me a Melbourne supporter would not boo an young indivisual who is clearly out of form and suffering. Despite being subbed he was constantly urging the team to continue during the 3/4 time huddle. Before anyone jumps down my throat, I believe he needs to return to Casey to earn some form but he should not be booed nor should any Melbourne player or official. It is ok to be mad, or sad but not rude. Let's not hang the bloke just yet.

Oh give it stuie! The media see it, we see it! The guy has no desire to suceed or bust his ass and take his game to another level! We have stuffed this pick up as usual! Trade him at years end will be luck to get a 4th round draft pick back

He obviously needs to lift, AS DO THE REST OF THE TEAM. There's too much focus on one player and others are getting off the hook because of it.

Not only that, but now people are re-writing history and saying he was "dreadful" in the second half of 2012, when he was actually quite good.

Let's stick to facts hey.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
