Jack Viney - Interview

Recommended Posts

I get on with young Jack and have had quite a few chats with him, we share a love of hip hop music which he finds highly amusing as there is 42 yr age difference between us, spoke to him at training today.....told him he would have to put up with the comparisons with other players from now on.....laughed and said "i've got them covered".........I try not to put players on pedestals coz invariably they let you down, but MFC have got themselves a live one......I reckon a few games in and we will see the midfield we all crave

It made me laugh that when he came out and said "if the MFC club don't pick me, I will make them regret it" people were screaming on social media that he's arrogant blah blah blah. Every great players needs that confidence and arrogance! He is bloody exciting to have on this list, Toumpas and Hogan will be handy for us. But this is the bloke to build a list around! You need guys to come in that want to play with Jack! If we suck all year it will be exciting to watch him improve all year! Love him already!

Edit: bloody iPhone

Viney and Toumpas will each be elite. Importantly though, elite in different ways.

You can build a midfield around this combination.

And (dreaming now) if we could ever bring Wines into the side, these musketeers would have a field day in opposition territory ...

Wines would be a great addition, there's no doubt about it, and if we'd had pick 5,6 or 7 I'm sure we would have grabbed him. But not ahead of Hogan, who we effectively got with 4.

As far as balance goes, I'm still happy with the choice of Toumpas overall. There's no sign that he's 'just' an outsider, and he's got a well balanced build, but I think the choice is based on the sound reasoning that we will probably get at least a couple of 'adequate' tough mids out of our host of mature strong bodies coming through like Magner, Taggert, M. Jones, Terlich, Couch and Kent.

Jack Viney is clearly not in it just for sh!ts and giggles. More of his attitude, please!

I think him and Wines in our midfield would have been lethal... Can always dream of the future. I'm sure Toumpas will be a winner also!

Tompas's response to the loss, as reported by Neeld, isn't to be scoffed at either. Someone who takes his responsibilities seriously, and cares about the result. Depressing that it has to come from players such as these as opposed to the senior players, but if it's all we got, it's all we got.

Jack Viney is a real professional but Jesse Hogan is a similar type with plenty of mongrel. I met him at training this morning and he is also a big unit. A player to watch out for is Dean Kent. Rory Taggert told me that he will be a fine player for the MFC and that he is a tough, skilful player.

Told Jimmy Toumpas at training that he had not let any of us supporters down and he seemed to really appreciate the positive feedback. I think players like Tom Gillies, Cameron Pedersen and David Rodan really need positive feedback from the supporters as they seem to be suffering from a lack of confidence. Maybe if they get this then they will develop into solid contributors for us.

Jack will lead us out. There is no doubt about this at all. It's just a matter of time and getting the right crew around him who are 110% committed goers. Jack is a man you can build a champion team around and will be a magnet for other players to come play with....IF we get e'thing right on and off the field.

I can feel the sniff of a champion in the wind at the MFC....at long last.

C'mon Demons. Time to rally round the old flag

From all I can gather, he really is a stellar young chap. I had been so excited about him coming to our club, without even seeing him play. Now that I've seen what he has to offer, I'm ecstatic. I just hope that he's one of those players that inspires everyone else around him, without actually trying to.

I am looking forward to Kent playing his first AFL game, I'm sure he will have an impact.

When VIney hit that pack and took the ball cleanly out of the air and went for a run down the G' with a few bounces then drilled a 50 metre pass o to the chest of Howe..

The hairs on your neck just stood up.

Also, how shameful that there is not one video on Youtube of Vineys first game hughights. At least upload his first goal. Terrible effort from DeeTV, but youd expected a fan would have done it ehemselves anyway.

If Byrnes puts in another mediocre performance you might see it in Rd 3.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
