Noticed this before on Instagram...

Magner posted a photo from the Rip Curl pro today, mentioning that Nathan Jones and Rohan Bail were down there surfing... Some supporters proceeded to criticise the fact that they are not on the track after yesterdays peformance. Magner's responses were as followed:

Firstly, Anthony Mare posted : The entire team should be forced to watch a replay of yesterdays game. It's embarrassing to be Melbourne supporter at the moment...

- Then Magner replied... @anthonymare if you even work, do you watch a replay of when you f**k up? (this wasn't censored in the actual post) I'm sure it will be reviewed. Think a better idea would be to unfollow me and express your disgust somewhere else

- He then posted a meme stating: "Keyboard Warriors. Cause talking [censored] in person is too dangerous.

- Then, in the comments thread of that photo, he posted: Talk [censored] on someone else's page then. Vent with someone else then. You wouldn't put half the heart and time and effort I put In to what I do, so keep your opinions to yourselves. Last time I checked none of you have played a game if football, so until you do,find someone else to harass.@gullaci88 can I come check out your workplace? That's if you have one and see if you've ever had an off day or actually ill pay out on your for f***ing up (again, uncensored) when you weren't even at work!

This is worrying. Professional athletes are supposed to put up with this sort of stuff, not curse out supporters on a social network. Average

I unfollowed Magner a while ago.

Dribble like this is pretty common for him if he's not tweeting about food and other boring shite.

Magner should be clever enough not to reply but it really isn't up to fans to start getting into these guys lives ,no matter what some of us think of them at the moment .

I don't care what they do in private anymore.Crash cars ,have fights ,get drunk or whatever you want.

Just turn up and play .

If they dont like it, they can either remedy the situation...or f off. simples !!

I think it was mature of you to stop following him Mcqueen.

Unfortunately others don't have such maturity and instead just hate on these athletes.

If people don't like what Magner says, don't follow him - it is that simple.

I don't have a problem with what Magner said there, it is his twitter, he can say as he pleases.

He just won't have that many followers, that should tell him how much of a [censored] he is.

Posted

I don't get why people would be interested in anything he has to say anyway but if he has such a thin skin how about not sharing this stuff on a public forum. Keep it private and no one will know or give a crap.

Getting paid doesn't mean he should have to suffer abuse. Hell, he didn't even play in the match, why should he cop it? There's this prevalent attitude that many have that because they barrack for a club and can access the players by social media that they have a right to say whatever they want to whoever they like. People seem to lose their sense of social conscience when they're behind a Twitter account, or a Facebook account, or a Demonland account. It's something that needs to change and I think Magner is within his rights to return serve.

The problem for me is they don't get it.

It's just a job for you, sure. But it's much more for many of us. Their work week culminates in match day. Our work week is 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, and then we CHOOSE to go and SPEND OUR MONEY to WATCH THEM. There's a bit of an expectation there of a minimum standard as a result.

If you open a restaurant and serve up roadkill, you're not going to get many people through the door.

Seriously needs to be bigger than that. Dopey.

Just let them run out to the Benny Hill theme next week. It will set things up nicely and reflects what the club is about right now.

mate.. couldnt give a rats really.. If 1) youre not that bright and HAVE, let alone use a social media account when you are of this ilk , i.e A very public sporting figure in a sports mad city then you might want to rethink what you do or say.

Much larger concerns, being companies and persons have learnt that you really need to think before typing if youre going to make any responses.

Hes supposed to be professional. Hes does get paid by this club. He opens his gob..hes fair game

Ok. Yes, maybe he is able to 'return serve', but do it in a way that won't make people loath you. Do it in a sensible, reasonable way.

We pay for 'entertainment'. They earn more than the majority of the population, the least they can do is show some effort. I would not be upset if we were losing due to lack of ability. But in reality, we are losing because these players don't seem to care.

Posted

PFT, the whole lot of them should be tarred and feathered in front of the supporter base

as for Magner, how bad are you if you can't get a game with THIS mob

You're a joke James magner.it is an embarrassment that that spud has worn our jumper. If he doesn't like criticism and supporters getting upset when their team puts in a disgusting performance he can go get stuffed.

Congratulations, keyboard heroes everywhere.

If we are supposed to be short of young suppoerters, how come so many of ours act like f'ing 14 year old boys?

(1) If he can't cop a bit he should keep off social media. (2) Our blokes get paid approximately the same money as every other club (92% 0f the salary cap I think?) do you you really think they shouldn't cop it? Magna's rookie case is somewhat different but a bit of humility would be appropriate.

No he doesn't . We pay the players. We have a say.

Probably one of the few players at the club who doesn't really deserve something like that directed at him due to his personal work ethic, but I have put my own personal comments and feelings of encouragement on the MFC page itself.

Very unrestrained response and obviously he is hurting with the combined feelings of not being out there playing as well as seeing the boys get hammered so brutally.

But many of them really do have to justify their wages

Never thought about it like that but that really brings up some interesting feelings.

That's like saying it's okay to abuse a liney because your power bill was too high. "We" don't pay the players, and even if we did it doesn't buy us the right to treat them like dogs.

I think the players know we are over them .

No need to stalk.

Funny ,but I've never seen Demonland so united.

Seems we have a common enemy.

A bit of context though. This is the comment Magner has reacted aggressively towards: "The entire team should be forced to watch a replay of yesterdays game. It's embarrassing to be Melbourne supporter at the moment..."

Pretty inoffensive, just honest. There are a hundred better, smarter, more positive ways that Magner could've responded to one of HIS fans than the one he chose.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
