Tom Scully @ GWS

I'd still rather Scully than Trengove.

Why?

What qualities, characteristics or abilities does Scully have over Trengove that would make you blurt out a statement like that?

If you consider the booty of picks and trades we gained out of the Scully fiasco, you can't come to any other conclusion than contrary to the popular line peddled among the sheep in the media, tanking did in fact ... pay.

You mean "experimentation" did pay

You're trying to extract reason from a guy who thinks Jurrah should be behind bars for the rest of his life.

Apart from a 10 minute patch in the 3rd where he racked up some disposal and finally hit a target, he was absolutely terrible.

If you were picking sides using GWS, he'd almost be last picked.

For 6 million I'd rather blow it on a bloke that can take mark/goal of the week, or an enforcer, or some funny bastard to do all the media...

6 million on a little, boring spud. Well played Giants.

But they got his father as the most highly paid recruiting executive in the AFL. Tom was only bait, it was his dad that they were really going after, anybody can see that now!

Dodged a bullet with Scully. He's going to continue to struggle. Being the no 1 draft pick is enough pressure. To walk out on your club after 2 years and believe you are good enough to be on ablett money, well now you're really gonna struggle.

Scully's advantage at junior level was his freak running. He'd get to double the contests of his peers. And in those days his lack of size wasn't an issue, as even the bigger and taller kids were skinny.

These days his size is an issue, because he gets monstered "inside" and just about every other midfielder is as fit. Combined with his ordinary disposal skills and a once junior gun now equals Mr. Vanilla.

Saw that post and thought the same. I think he was just trying to be contrary.

Locked in for $6,000,000 over six years, plus the additional monies from outside the cap. I am sure the Melbourne could have matched his offer, however, who is silly enough to offer $6million over 6 years for potential?

His true character shone through over that whole debate over whether he was staying or leaving.

Go Dees :)

That traitor isn't even worth the bother posting about. He swapped playing for one of the oldest and most prestigious sporting organisations in the world for some corporate franchise.Fcuk him i say and leave him consigned to history where we belongs. :)

Which of you guys wouldn't take the stupendous money on offer in his position? Left out of this discussion is the role of KS who has wasted a big pile of GWS's shopping money just to exact some kind of payback on Melbourne for not appointing him coach.

Why didn't he tell Jim that so instead of lying to his face?I can't say for certain what i would have done but i would have given a man of Jim Stynes caliber and stature a straight answer.

I think with Scully it is important to remember the kid is barely bigger than Blease. By the same token... Blease has more 'upside' in speed, creativity and agility.

Scully will be alright, I guess. Not $1million worth of alright, or No.1 draft pick alright, but he'll be alright.

I think with Scully it is important to remember that he's a [censored].

Sculldog Millionaire is overrated - we all know it. GWS know it - why else would they constantly try to say how great he is (to justify the overspend they can now see).

Compare sculldog to his draft peers and you'll see what I mean.

He lied to Jimmy - end of story.

But he did us a favour in leaving. We dont need any more soft outside mids. Until recently we had those in droves...

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
