Game Coverage This Week

Surely Matt Burgan and or Robbo (with special comments from the Gawn Dog??) can take a leaf out of Port's book, and set up a tripod and camera at Casey this week, and supply us with a live broadcast of the match via the Melb website. Can't be that hard!

Here's hoping...!

As long as we don't get comments like "that St Kilda player", I'm all for it ;)

LOL. What would be even worse would be "that MELBOURNE player"...!

Would love the club to take some initiative with this coverage.

Take a leaf out of commercial radio, get in some volunteer commentators (or Matt and Ellie) and have repeated references to the 'Opel Goal of the Day' and the 'Webjet Flight (mark) of the Day' to help keep the sponsors happy.

It's not a huge audience, but it also wouldn't take much to setup.

Absolutely! Wouldn't be hard to emulate Port's effort. And I, for one, would be over the moon if they did!

Yeah the main problem would be the internet connection, given it's not in a 4g area and the data would be considerable. A recording for later viewing should be pretty easy though. I'd do it but I don't have a video camera.

I would be pretty sure that the club does record these games. After all, I'm sure someone reported earlier in the year that it was recording training sessions.

I saw that article. Didn't they say they had HD cameras at either end of the ground for the entire training session? That would be more than enough to get some decent footage of the game.

Renmark wasn't streamed, it was archived and put online the following day.

Is that right. Okay, we go one better and stream ours...!

4G has nothing to do with it. Hopefully they aren't going to be videoing it off their phones.

Casey isn't exactly Liam Jurrah Remote... it has cable.

I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't allowed to stream it live. But I would be happy with a recording to watch the following few days

The GWS v Brisbane game was streamed live from Wagga over the weekend, was basically just a camera on the wing with (I think) Hutchy and a couple others commentating.

Club has been tweeting that they are going to record whole game and put on website, somebody asked about playing "live" they said not possible, probably something to do with broadcast rights etc

I think the tweet mentioned that the MFC website couldn't handle a live stream.

I am not too worried, if the club is spending money on someone to setup a live stream of practice games - what a waste of money.

The AFL should have set this up themselves - it's their bloody role - promote the game.

So, if THEY can do it, why on earth can't our outfit...?? We might be the oldest club in the land. But, just a little bit of modern thinking in the IT realm wouldn't be a bad idea, surely! Can't be THAT hard, surely!

Probably because Wagga was fitted out with 4g by Telstra last year.

Lol, 4G isn't phone technology mate, it's wireless networking technology, and if you're in a regional footy ground in the middle of nowhere, with no decent cable or high grade adsl connection, how do you think your going to upload the streaming data? A few tin cans?

Even if they did have decent cable access at Casey, you then have to wire to your recording device, put in a fair bit of time and effort testing, etc. THen as mentioned elsewhere you have the bandwidth limitations of the MFC site, etc.

I doubt the club would stream live, most "Live" transmissions are on delay for legal reasons.

I know it is only a practise game, but if something goes wrong and it hits youtube..

I would expect to watch a replay in 24 hours.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
