CONDUCT UNBECOMING

Remind me again why Caro gets paid more than Emma..

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/dees-winners-well-know-in-about-2015-20130219-2epmj.html

A very reasonable analysis.

I imagine The Age to be a bit like Oz, with the wicked witch and the good witch exchanging pleasantries by the water cooler.

Amazing! Analysis in a newspaper when reporting about footy! What next - balance?

An excellent article and i just wish there was more of it (analysis that is).

CW comes in for her fair share of criticism (most of which being justified!) but i have to say "robbo' is just as bad in terms of being a gossip monger. Wouldn't know analysis if it bit him on the nose. Case in point his woeful article in today's Hun

I can't bring myself to hate Robbo, even when he's taking a swipe at the club.

The key difference between Robbo and Caro is one has a genuine love of the game and wants to see what is best for It. The other is a vindictive, nasty individual, who uses her own personal grudges as motivation for her "journalism".

You say he wasn't the "main" offender, but he's clearly "an" offender.

When I combine his less than satisfactory recruiting efforts I feel aggrieved.

Prendergast was so upset with tanking he resigned and went to.........Carlton...

Hangon ,that's what Brock did......

The thot plickens.....

Amazing really - all the footy gossip hacks, led by CW, trumpeted that the board, CS, CC and DB were going to be hit with 3 separate charges. It was stated as fact by several of them.

What happens? Only CC and DB charged and not with one of the 3 mooted charges. Indeed an entirely new charge that not one journo had even got close to suggesting would be laid.

Hopeless, just hopeless. Of course the Robbos, Ralphys and CWs will say that they were just going on the info provided by their 'sources' and that it was all a 'movable feast'. What rot.

This is the problem with gossip journalist, its all based on whispers form people with their own agendas an when the info tuns out to be completely untrue the journos don't take any responsibilty, they just blame their sources.

Hopeless, just hopeless.

I'm actually more worried about this new investigation than the one just finished.

"Demetriou defended his late withdrawal from Tuesday's public announcement saying it had been McLachlan's investigation, not his.

He said the evidence and findings had been put before an independent Queen's Counsel who had agreed the investigation had no sufficient evidence against any other officials or board members."

Hopefully this is true & accurate.

I happen to know there was a small army of Melbourne supporting lawyers ready to go, pro bono, and as souped up on indignation as we are.

Of the four rats, it's not Prendergast who's the main offender.

On top of that people outside the four are behind this so don't blame Prendergast just because you think he was a less than competent recruiter.

Do we presume then it's Flack?

("Jack Watts will/won't be a star" will suffice for yes/no)

Wouldn't suprise me if that 800 page document has been shredded completely now. It has information people will wish to wipe...

I'm sure it's been asked before: is it or will it become publicly available?

It is now, it's been changed.

I stand corrected.

Seems to me that "tanking", in the context of coaches, means either:

1. Deliberately trying to lose a game; or

2. Deliberately not trying as hard as you could ("your utmost") to win a game.

A very subtle difference.

The AFL decided that "tanking" means (1) and that was not present at MFC, but that certain people in MFC were guilty of (2).

To be fair, the actual headline to CW's article is

Demons cleared, guilty, fined

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-cleared-guilty-fined-20130219-2epm0.html

I doubt she is responsible for truncating it on the website.

It has been changed, notice the date on the article is today's date, yet the original headline story was published yesterday.

The only thing truncated IS her responsibility.

I wonder if Caro does write her own headlines... a lot of that sort of thing is done by sub-editors. She has enough pull that she probably does, though, I suppose.

I have a strong feeling she originally wrote the original "Dees guilty" one before a sub-editor did his job some time later...

I doubt it - but they're obviously having some fun and i assume the deliberately antagonistic style is all a part of the new age (and i don't mean Aquarius) - a once proud paper reduced to trolling.

After footy training tonight I was having the customary rehydration period and shooting the sh!t with the boys.

Happy to say that the general consensus is that we got screwed and the AFL has been under some really ordinary leadership.

The everyday footy fan is behind us. No question about that.

Ed: spelling... Over hydrated.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
