it somewhat surprises me you condone poor decisions , a lack of judgement and bogan behaviour.

Each to their own I suppose

It's a trivial incident mate.

It might be trivial but considering we have been useless for so long....

It doesnt exactly scream, "we are doing everything we can to win a flag" now does it.

I find this thread very disturbing, and i'm not referring to the behaviour of our players.

Can't believe people get so riled up about such a non-issue.

Me either, I mean who gives a stuff if we're crap for another five years or so. The whole "elite performance" mantra the club is trying to employ is complete bollocks anyway.

it may be trivial, but it is another MFC story about something other than the club kicking goals. How come they aren't all as [censored] off as we are, and determined that, whatever the cost, they are not going to be written about until it is to describe their excelling on the field? What do they want to be known for? - there's a lot of work needed to get the right answer up. Days off? - don't they feel as though they have had a couple of years off, and it's time to be catching up?

yes, it is trivial, but the real disappointment is that it wasn't a different sort of story.

They are allowed to get drunk on their Christmas holidays. I second Many sentiments about how easy it is to get kicked out of the cricket. The security and police bully punters at cricket matches.

So what bothers you more? The fact that they were having a few beers on their break from pre-season training, or the fact that their names got mentioned in a media beat up?

Of course it isn't a massive deal, but you know what is good?

When your players aren't getting [censored] in Bay 13 and reacting to the scum you find there and getting kicked out.

Honestly, there are a few blatant contrarians on this forum. They don't decide where they stand on an issue until they have found where the vast, reactionary majority have landed...

No harm done was there TD ?

Surely they are entitled to a few beers on boxing day be it bay 13 or anywhere else.

We expect too much from these young blokes IMO.

Underachievers - and proud of it.

What bothers me most is the fact that we've been virtually unwatchable for the last 6 years, that the club crap on about elite performance, that they decided to sit in bay 13 at the cricket, that they thought it would be "fun" to put together a beer cup boat, the fact that they were drunk in public and the fact that they were ejected in public.

The simple FACT is we won one meaningful game last year and I'm god damn tired of it. This sort of stuff makes me wonder if any of them give a shyte about us going to every single game and watching their sorry ar$es get handed to them every single week.

A trivial incident that doesn't offend me one iota.

The dedication of AFL players as young men is extraordinary, so I won't condemn them on a lapse of judgment on a public holiday on one of Australian sport's iconic occasions.

It's a no biggie for me. But it doesn't surprise me that many on here wet themselves over it.

The incident itself is nothing much, it's just the stupidity on parade that gets me. They need to pull their heads in and show they are dedicated to turning around the shitheap this team has become under their watch instead of making public spectacles of themselves amongst well-known congregations of drunk bogans with the sports press everywhere. It just shows an astounding lack of judgment but yeah, win a few games and maybe people won't care so much.

Not at all. I would expect it of every member of the public. Why should they be any different?

There were a number of spectators that had a few beers but did not have to behave like lairs.

Go figure

You having trouble with behaving in public.......

As a MFC member, I expect the players to live their lives as a normally as possible. If they choose to go to the Boxing Day test, why not! 65,000 other supporters did. If they chose to drink on their holiday, why not! 99.5% of people on holidays have a bevy.

The REAL QUESTION is, Why are MFC players celebrating with McLean? Time to make a stance and reject that fool for who he is,[deleted]!

A 6 game suspension is in order for the McLean factor only

seems to me that the portion of us who are upset about this are only upset because we happen to be a bad side at the moment.. I don't see what our on-field performance has to do with this, they are entirely separate issues

A fair few witnesses have said how pi55ed they were, and you don't make beer cup snakes and throw cups at people if you're drinking tea...

I got wild with the missus last night drinking tea. Broke a cup and saucer and all. Good times

I would think Mark Neeld And Neil Craig will have quite a lot of hard but sharp words to these guys when they return from holidays next week.

These guys have probably and unfortunately shown just how far we have to go, before the "elite" mindset takes hold.

I know othe clubs including the Maggies have similar problems with some players. But, that is no excuse.

In a cricket way, remembe what the black eye in Kings Cross did for Ricky Ponting and more recently what a transformation appears to have taken place with Michael Clark since he learnt to think more with the head on to of his shoulders rather than the one between his legs.

This minor infingement wil hopefully give reason to pull these guys back into line without too much damage.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
