I'm not sure if it all will every come to light but there's definitely more to all this than meets the eyes. Some people with persuasion and influence have got this thing moving when it really ought to have stalled at the line.

I keep coming back to the question ....why ? And I keep coming back to the idea its not about Melbourne per se..its all about someone's (s) grudge.

If this was really about tanking it would go across teams, but it hasnt. So this is about payback. At some point the motive and the instigators must be outed and dealt with.

IMO, we are the Excuse in all this, the patsy caught without a chair when the music was unplugged.

thats why I say, the players association, & coaches association. the AFL's interpretations which clubs followed they're lead, was hurting footballers careers, & coaches careers.

Paul Roos was right last year about the list management being wrong for clubs & footy, & I think someone then used the friendly environment of "the Couch" to launch they're offensive & many people were used as the 'Tools' of this war.

Its not Fox, nor is it the commentators, innocent front men. So it comes back to those with actions they want to happen, 'the stakeholders'. The associations have to gain, & the blues have to gain at our expence again.

the ones loading the bullets are the culprits. & the assassins.

It's because we made it more public than other teams. Even though other teams were more blatant about it.

Carltank got away with it so far because the league don't want to wack a "Power" club twice.

At some point in time the instigators of this witchhunt have to be named if only to ensure that they do not use the same tatic down the track. Whoever was feeding Caro information should be first to be named. From my reading the information sourced from ex players, medicos etc will be set out in those papers sent to the Club and from that information the Club will be able to identify those who put the knife in and then twisted it. Caro's source however may not have been interviewed because she would have claimed the need to maintain the identity of her "sources" as confidential.

If nothing comes of the investigation or at least there are only minor penalties those turncoats will not be satisfied. The scalps of CS and CC will only satisfy them and to this point I believe that they will endeavour to carry out similar exercise to rid the MFC of CC and CS no matter what enduring harm it will cause in the meantime.

I can understand why certain people may not like CS, family grudges, job losses etc, but what has CC done to anyone, other than try and get the best for the MFC at all times.

Someone has spoken to Caroline Wilson and I think she has spoken to the AFL saying what are you going to do about this. It has to be the case. They wouldn't launch an investigation on the back of numnuts McLean.

Thats why they are asking all and sundry at the Dees about who said what and when etc. Nothing else makes sense.

Would make it quite interesting if it did go to court wouldn't it ! No more hiding behind anonymous quotes for some people

Yes, it would bring some of the rats out into the public eye.

I'll bet none of them work at the club these days and each and every one of them might not have left the club in happy circumstances.

Does anyone know if club members will have access to the evidence at some stage?

Freedom of Information?

Which raises the question- do we sue for defamation?

No- we go some way to re-enforcing the perception that we are the push-overs and the media's "whipping boy"

Yes- we make a massive statement- "come at this club with propaganda designed to destabilize us or kill us and you will not only look to be a fool, you will also be taken to court and probed by the long, thick arm of the law," or someone else can word the statement.

We sue and make them think twice about trying to come at us. Are there any real world problems with this post?

Or Carlton's when the booked their senior players in for surgery in 2007 and lost the last 11 games so they could get Kruezer AND Judd?

If our coach had tanked in that R22 game we could well have had the priority pick instead of Carltom, and may even have got Kruezer ourselves. Remind me, who was our coach? And where was he for the 2008 season?

Warwick Green's conclusion:

" it seemed extraordinary that in the very season it changed the system the AFL would choose to poke at an old wound by asking its integrity department to examine how Melbourne performed three years ago.

The AFL may have painted itself into a corner. Is it time to broaden the investigation?

You suspect the only way the AFL can extract itself is to say it thoroughly scrutinised the Demons and found no damning evidence. "

Once a Saint, always a Saint.

The most amazing aspect to me is that the AFL have something called an "integrity department". 1984 (the book, not the season) anybody?

It beggars belief to think that the AFL wants to stick the boots into a club who clearly has not benefited from any alleged tanking of games.

What a waste of resources that could have been put to much better use.

It's little wonder Anderson has been moved on.

Couldn't agree more.I really think this was Anderson's baby. Demetriou has probably taken a whack too - for being complacent enough to take leave mid season.

Connolly has enemies too. I know that at least some members of the former Board felt that he was instrumental in orchestrating the Stynes take over behind their backs. It has also been reported that it was Connolly's sharp tongue that soured Junior MacDonald's departure

FOI might be a problem because neither the AFL nor the MFC are government agencies but otherwise, I like the idea.

It seems to me that the members should be entitled to see and read the evidence produced against the club and the nature of that evidence.

OFGS! FoI applies to government agencies only.

The only people who will know who is levelling accusations against the club will be those who form our legal team and those they accuse who will have the right of response.

The rest of us will have to rely on scuttlebutt.

What did CC say?

(Really, I want to know because right now this thread lacks for scuttlebutt, so let's get started.)

Which is what we've been relying on since day 1.

Happy New Year OD and all and yes, it was a big night which ended with some TV viewing of the NYE celebrations and fireworks on Sydney Harbour. Once that finished we watched some highly skilled and trained athletes in the semi finals of the World Darts Championships which we all thought was a fitting way to end the old year and start the new, especially for the Demon fans among us.

This is because throughout 2012 all and sundry were throwing darts at the Demons but, thankfully, it's a new year and 2013 is the year when we finally fight back.

I hope that the source(s) is/are named. If it is medicos, then while not strictly a patient doctor confidence in this case, I would not want to trust these medicos with my personal medical history. I wonder if the Health Services Commissioner may get involved?

I tweeted him back "second biggest crock just behind your comments about the Melbourne football club"

Well then scuttle away...

its this lack of fact for the public that causes ass ume... u know ass u me?

Lets have a public forum on this, & I call on the club & the MFC legal team, to make it they're business to inform the MFC supporters of the truths of all this.

Can we handle the truth? If we can't we'll die from it anyway.

I'd rather face my firing squad than have my back turned.

So when is the last day we can get back to the afl with our defence?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
