Adrian Anderson Quits

Jonesbag

Recommended Posts

As posted elsewhere, Caro claims Adrian Anderson has quit.

Even in this announcement she takes time to have another crack at the MFC???? Being investigated for forfeiting games? She is sailing pretty close to the wind here and will pay a decent price if/when we are found to have no case to answer.

Like a dog with a bone.

Guest José Mourinho

NRL already has some cowboy in charge, who is going to be bad news for RL.

They'd have been better off keeping Gallop.

I fully believe it was decided the AFL was better off without Anderson, after he instigated a witch-hunt on tanking whilst Demetriou was on holidays.

He obviously gave no thought to the likely outcome of thsi investigation, nor the potential consequences if we were actually found guilty.

Absolute schoolboy error, and showed he had no feel for the game.

The AFL auditors? Have we broken the salary cap or is there a financial irregularity?

More [censored] poor reporting from this 'media commentator'.... When newspaper columnists are football show's main talent - Mark Robinson, Damien Barrett, Jay Clark, Caroline Wilson - you know that the world has gone mad.

Unfortunately for Carro, she is now living in the shadow of Emma Quayle who broke the Tippet story this year.

Shane Mattiske is NRL CEO caretaker. The Cowboy you refer to is John Grant, Commission Chairman, who is Mike F's equivalent. Loves the media spotlight and loves the hospitality circuit. He is very bad news for RL indeed.

Not sorry to see the back of this guy to be frank. That role is largely considered to be heir to the throne, and a number of bungles have his signature on it, including the witch hunt we're being subjected to. I'd hate to have him in charge of our game.

To correct a few assertions already made in this thread:

- The NRL have just appointed a CEO, a bloke named David Smith who is a banking executive from Wales. He professed not to know who Aussie league skipper Cameron Smith was. Agree with Left Field that John Grant has not distinguished himself after 12 months as ARLC chairman, nor is he likely to do so in future.

- AA was once considered the likely successor to Demetriou, but that is clearly now Gillon McLachlan after AD's endorsement of him following the NRL's pursuit.

- I get why people might not like Anderson but the idea that the League dumped its footy operations manager in the wake of senior operations official Rod Austin quitting, and the recent departure of two other members of the AFL executive doesn't bear up to scrutiny.

FWIW, I am inclined to take Anderson's comments at the presser at face value. Time for a new challenge, which I reckon will likely be at Arden Street as CEO.

I agree totally MikeyJ this is probably the worst job at the AFL.

You get to give everyone the bad news and all the good announcements go to the GM.

True, which also must mean his superior possesses similar poor judgement.

There is a stink at present about the leadership of the AFL and it is growing stronger.

Interesting comment MikeyJ. Would it pay higher than COO at the AFL? Perhaps he's aware of what Cookie got offered.

9 yrs is long enough.

Has done a reasonable job in a pressure cooker environment. Time for someone else to come in and fix up a few of the glaring issues such as the tribunal and the fixture...

Forfeiting means to surrender.

In which game is she alleging that we did that?

Sydney Swans @ Manuka where we have never beaten them and came closer to beating them than in the previous two matches and only poor kicking for goal lost it for us?

Richmond where it took a goal after the siren from 50 metres to beat us?

St. Kilda (19-2) v us (4-17) with them paying $1.02 the win in a game we lost by 47 points?

If these were forfeits in her mind then she really has forfeited her sanity.

I heard a grab where Anderson said he hopes to have the melbourne tanking issue completed by the time he leaves which is March. Geez if by march they are still investigating then they wont find anything.

He also said he has a team that can do it such Clothier but this has to be completed soon. We dont want to be going into round 1 with this issue still going on.

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t
