Having just had an arthroscopic procedure, that thankfully worked, I was wondering about Max Gawn and of course to this day I still dream about what might have been with Schwarz. Big footy had a thread about Gawn but that was more about whether to delist him (which would be moronic IMO, hasn't finished his chance yet).

So anyway my question is (and I did search so if its on DL and I missed it I'm sorry) - Who has made the best comeback from a ACL\PCL reconstruction?

Paul Salmon to me is the stand-out for recovery and post construction FB career, Mr. Goodes also seems not to be a slouch in recovery, Any other thoughts? Prevailing stats say that 90% of ops are successful and the recurrence rate hovers around 10% so all in all doesn't seem to be a huge risk hanging onto Gawn, and that Schwarz was bloody unlucky.

Richo went alright.

Richo went well. But his was a mechanical incident (he crashed into a fence). I reckon the dodgy comebacks are when there was no particular reason for the initial rupture. Think Ox, LeCras, Gawn (alas), Rhodan.

No -one beats The OX in this department.

I still remember his first mark back in the game on the HFF at the G ,Punt RD end , about 30 yards straight in front of me.

Low Ball ,wet day ,big slide on his knees across the turf at full pace .(big long deep breath)

He took the grab and I am thankful for his efforts to get back into the game.

He has a Lion Heart our David.

He is also the only decent bloke on that crappy radio station ,(along with our Dr Turf)

No -one beats The OX in this department.

I was at Lavington for the pre-season practice when Schwarz was making his 1st or 2nd comeback.

He came on for the 2nd qr playing in the 2s and proceeded to throw himself around with reckless abandon.

I couldn't believe what I was seeing , he was crashing packs , takin low diving chest marks and taking on defenders.

He kicked 3 goals that term but I wanted someone to remind him that, not only he was in the 2nds, but the regular season was still weeks away and he should settle down.

Needless to say he came out and popped it again early in the 3rd.

Couldn't barking believe it .

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
