I swear if we field a injury free best 22 and lose to the power it might well and truly be the end for me

If this happens, Sheahan, Walls, Caro, Denham, Smith, and 80% of Demonland will all be calling for his sacking the next day.

I like it.

Low key, low expectations and a game we should win.

Nice way to ease into the season.

Given the new players and the pre-season focus on "the gameplan" it's just what the Dr ordered.

Happy it's at the G

Happy we've got a team we should be beating

IMO if we played this game later in the year we'd be getting 2000-3000 less people, first round will always get a few extra through the gate. I'm definitely not a fan of the AFL's split round idea for the opening round, purely a money making idea and for me just makes a mockery of an already compromised draw.

A win against them in the first game of the year already puts us a win better than last season, right from the first game. Couldn't be a better start as far as I'm concerned. (Assuming we win!!) Will be huge for the team's confidence after this year's first half and will be a very nice welcome to Viney, Dawes and other new players.

Not even going to think about losing. Don 't want to have to go and find another sport to follow after one game.

The AFL have surely stuffed up by giving us Port at the MCG and scheduling North vs Collingwood at Etihad. Maybe Demetriou forgot to put his glasses on when he was double checking the fixturing.

I was thinking the same thing.

We always host Port in Darwin.

Would be surprised if we don't sell a game next year considering we're not exactly a financial powerhouse.

Maybe we host someone like Gold Coast or GWS up in Darwin next year?

Haven't we also played the Doggies in Darwin? Maybe we will see a return to that fixture?

Guys the last couple of years we have played Port Twice.

So nothing to stop another Port Game in Darwin later in the year.

Hope so I might go this year depending on the date.

Its a good start to the season (theoretically). It should get us off to a good start for 2013 :)

But have only played Port in Darwin as the home team.

If it's a return game it will be at AAMI.

Yeah, okay. So it's better than Hawthorn Round 1, but let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

I'll ignore Jesus as per usual. I'm a Demon after all.

Definitely take the early timeslot over a fricken twilight game any day. WORST.

Sunday March 31st

Melbourne vs Port Adelaide MCG

This will be the first round game for 2013 hopefully we can show on that day that the Number 13 is unlucky for some and Lucky for others

Would be a good start to the season to get this one under our Belt

If you wish to see the rest of the first round draw if you havent already here it is

Can't wait. For all you complaining, I usually have an easter dinner so this is perfect for me. 1:10 games at the G are great when it's nice and sunny. Would be gutted if it were twilight. I'm glad the AFL are kind to us with Round 1's, now it'll be 5 seasons in a row we've played home afternoon games at the G (hopefully our first win out of these). And best of all, we aren't playing Port in Darwin. I reckon we'll win by 9 points

We'll smash them, string a few together early, few late and sneak into the 8.

I'm glad the AFL give Port good compo, because they really are sliding down a slippery slope.

Sounded like good news.

Until I found it it's on Easter Sunday. In the early time slot. Right when many people are sitting down to lunch.

Gutted. I love going to Round 1. It's typically one of the few games of the year where we're not behind in the win-loss ratio, we have new players/recruits/list/strategies, and there's genuine optimism. I'd have loved for us to open 2013 with Viney, Dawes, Byrnes et al to a sizeable group of our fans.

I'll be there. Only one religion worth following.

Are we seriously counting rd 1 as in the bag, before the trade period is even done? When will you people learn!!

The port board on bigfooty have marked Port down for a win!

50/50 game this one given how bad we were in 2011. Plus Port drew with Richmond at the g in Rd 23.

Might even out number opposition supporters...maybe

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
