WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES

Recommended Posts

If the club is smart, and they seem to be saying the right things. The club wont mortgage itself buy paying overs for other trades or FA's. I hope the club is taking pick 3 and 4 off the table regardless of the Viney situation. Pick 13 is up for grabs and Dawes and Wellingham would be a good get. Collingwood need to trade to release salary cap pressure. No need to give them a trump card to another star by giving away our top picks.

The way i see it, is that Collingwood require a forward/ruckman and Key Position Back to replace Tarrant. Maybe Martin could be the bait to entice the Pies to play Martin down back.

Neeld spoke about being the hardest club to play against. I hope this extends to whole FD and not just the players.

Could not have put it better.

Next week is going to be even bigger then this week.

My mouth is watering, so meny twists and turns in this plot.

What's going to happen by the end of October?

If we pick up either Dawes of Wellingham I would be happy.

I may be hard of thinking but it occurs to me that what the club gets in Dawes is a more reliable, less flamboyant replacement for Jurrah. I wonder if we would be chasing him if we still had a fit and able Liam on board. Just a thought...

No I am not disregarding that at all, you are reading between the lines or looking for an argument.

What I am suggesting is that perhaps the lure of, the likelihood of a flag plus some more money MIGHT be too tempting to knock back and I think that is fairly clear.

Just postulating like every one else in this thread.

Just because someone says something does not mean it is set in concrete; remember one Mitch Clark.

But why bog yourself down on the unlikeliest scenarios ? it just makes you look like one of the nuffies.

I suppose the worse case of a youngish key position forward with experience ( Dawes) and a b+ mid with speed and run(wellingham) for pick 4 as well as either Viney or a top quality mid ( toumpas/wines ) at position 3 and probably pick 13 + 18 (from pies) does not seem too bad

Guys massive chance to pull this off! Tim Harrington met with Geoff Walsh today and offerd pick 4 for wellingham and dawes.

If we snag both of them plus a byrnes and Toumpas and Viney.. This could be one heck of a year 2013!

No. That's what Collingwood want. Not what we offered - according to a news report.

That's what Collingwood wants.

Melbourne are surely not silly enough to even contemplate it. If they do that's just about it for me.

From what i have read we offered it...

Think pick 18 may be involved

Only worth considering if Viney is 2nd rounder.

Could end up with Toumpas, Viney, Wellingham, Kennedy, Vlastuin as Mids and Dawes down forward.

We need mature players, and their isnt exactly a smorgasboard of them knocking on our door.

How the hell could possibly be seen as a win!!!!

Giving up the 4th best kid in the country for a good 2nd forward and a unproven mid!!

That would be worst case scenario to me. But I'd prefer not. I reckon Wellingham is worth a pick in the 20's and Dawes a pick in the 30's.

We don't need to be desperate for other club's B graders.

I think North offered pick 21ish for Wellingham in 2009 before he was in a premiership team.

pick 4 for Dawes and Wellingham? jesus christ. If that happens Im done with the MFC and wont be renewing my membership.

pick 13 for the pair , that I could live with and would actually be a great get for the club

+ 1...Will seriously lose my mind if they give up pick 4...pick 13 and a player, if that's Martin or Petterd etc so be it.

Collingwood needs the best draft picks they can get as quality players would either be too expensive or cost too much to trade for. A high draft pick provides them with a near ready cheap good player that can develop and eases their salary cap pressure. Pick 4 is over the top in my mind. Collingwood NEEDS another ruckman bigtime so will pay overs to get one, while they have the Qstick, I am not sure he is good enough to carry their ruck long term, which is why they will be looking for draft picks. Pick 13 would be a good deal for us no so good for Collingwood if there is no up and coming ruckman left by pick 13.

Welly and Dawes for pick 1 and then if we could then pick up pederson to fit into our backline, brynes crumbing, Rodan crumbing as well as the range of midfielders mentioned we would be a very different and competitive club next year.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
