Wayne Carey as specialist coach

Interesting to read Carey has some ambition to do some specialist coaching role about 20 hrs a week with a Melbourne club. I know he has been linked to Carlton but what do we think of him helping out at Melbourne. Years ago I would have said no way, but he seems to be in a better head space now and stayed out of trouble.

I reckon he would be great for Howe and Watts development and even help out Mitch Clark and give him more tips he can do in the foward line. i reckon Howe and Watts especially could really feed off him.

Love the guy. We all have our flaws, you cover yours by not being good enough to be seen in the public eye.

We have to be ruthless in every pursuit, Elite mentality in everything we do.

Get him tomorrow for 40 hours a week.

jack watts and wayne carey would be a good mix.

. I have my doubts about Jack, but no doubts about his intelligence and I dont think he'd respond to a guy who reckoned his after game party trick was to break a scotch tumbler on his head,no matter how good a footballer he used to be. It reads like the bloke cant do anything useful with himself so he wants to go back to his glory days. Wouldnt have him around the place in a million seasons unless he goes back to the Roos and works wonders with them first. Maybe he could go into Real Estate with Dennis Pagan or get a job as muscle for any of his crim mates who are still alive Edited by IRW

He has done some ugly things since his career has ended but I still think he could be of some use to Fitzy and Watts on a limited basis.

There is no way I would support making him a part of the coaching panel until he proves to be off drugs.

There are so many crims involved in footy that it is impossible to stop him mixing with whoever he choses.

1 hour a week with the kids could definately help us .

We could use a few of his tricks and advice on marking ,leading, space creation etc.

An outstanding player, who obviously had a very good football brain. In his media roles his arrogance & boofheadedness overrides his football acumen.

I question his ability to communicate & motivate those of lesser ability than himself. From the outside looking in - no thanks - that's not even factoring in his off-field "errors of judgement".

Get Dermie, he had attitude and ability and isnt a desperate loser....well he might be desperate but at least he's stayed in footy and seems to have made a quid out of and outside of it.. Bet you Carey is pretty near broke and clutching at straws... Let the Roos save him

Not sure of all that he has done

But certainly doesnt impress as a role model

I think he became a product of his own ability

When you are told you are the king and can do anything

which was desirable on the footy field you must know how to separate the on and off field

Coaches could probably translate his footy actions through their experiences and tapes of his actions

Dont know what he could add particularly on a regular basis sowould be cautious

but leave it up to Neeld

as a teacher he would know if Carey has the skills to teach and how to appraise the success of that teaching.

The coaches could certainly

He is a champion of the game! provided he has gotten himself in a better headspace and there is no way he will go back to drugs, i think it would do wonders for our fwds. i can't see it happening though

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi
