Wayne Carey as specialist coach

Featured Replies

Was a pretty ordinary bloke in many respects but his background is a shocker. His father a very ordinary piece of work, so possibly his upbringing explains some of those dog acts for which he is well known.

But I also remember being very pleasantly surprised at his special comments work.

Fact: he understands the game and he is surprisingly articulate about it. I'd have him in the blink of an eye as a forward coach.

Interesting to read Carey has some ambition to do some specialist coaching role about 20 hrs a week with a Melbourne club. I know he has been linked to Carlton but what do we think of him helping out at Melbourne. Years ago I would have said no way, but he seems to be in a better head space now and stayed out of trouble.

I reckon he would be great for Howe and Watts development and even help out Mitch Clark and give him more tips he can do in the foward line. i reckon Howe and Watts especially could really feed off him.

yes he would be great but doesn't fit the Melbourne goodie two shoes way. could you imagine him sitting in on one of Neeld's school boy lectures? don't think so.

If Wayne Carey told you to go harder you would. Man is a beast and that is what Melb need more of. Only person with more aura is Barassi.

Awesome footballer but a very shady character. Not hard to see why he has been overlooked for so long.

And on top of that we've already got Leigh Brown who appears to have worked wonders with Mitch Clark.

Huh?

I think you would find that what Neeld is trying to instil conflicts with Carey's morals (at least of the past anyway).

I know who I would be listening to.

  • PREVIEW: Brisbane

They really had me fooled when I picked them with great confidence to beat the Bombers at Gather Round last week. I should have recognised that nothing is more quintessentially Melbourne than defeating the undefeated early premiership favourite one week and losing to a winless cellar dweller on its way to establishing a record losing streak the next.
