Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Do we know yet whether the club will seek the same clearance for Hogan as it did Viney to come under our stewardship and join in the training/program and possibly play with Casey

Pretty sure Dangerfield stayed home to study. He won't sit on his ass and eat burgers for a year if he stays home.

Apparently in WA they start and finish school a year earlier than the rest of the country, meaning Hogan is in year 12 this year. He'll be in Melbourne, as a full time footballer next year just like everyone else on the list. The only thing out of the ordinary is that he'll be ineligible to be picked in the senior side. I stand to be corrected...?

Things have chnaged in WA now you start Year 1 if you are 6 before July 1st, previously it was The year you turned 6 and I am pretty sure Hogan falls under this category.

So he should be free to move I'm guessing the family discussed all the possibilities before he nominated for the mini draft

Hogan only averages 2.2 goals per game this year.

I just worry that we are over rating him a tad...

Especially since we have the worst mid-field in the comp...just saying....this being a mid field super draft and all..

Hogan played a lot of football in the ruck, midfield and down back for Claremont Colts, and by all accounts played those positions well. Given the amount of time he actually played in the forward line 2.2 probably not a bad result. Neither is the 19.9 touches per game.

Hogan is only a good deal at pick 3 if you think we wouldn't have been in a position to get him anyway in 2013.

I would suggest there is every chance that we will have another pick in the top 3 next year, which means that we would be right in the mix to have taken him at the proper time.

History will show that most, if not all, of the mini draft trades have been massive overspends. GWS must be laughing themselves sick.

I would suggest that GWS, GC, PORT AND W.B may all finish below us and we would have been no chance in hell of landing Hogan. Other thing is people are saying what if this kid slides like Darling and we have paid overs.. What if he grows another 6 cm and is 200cm and 110kg at 18 years old? Good luck trying to get him even with pick 3 next year. Well played Dees!

Do you think we have almost certainly missed out on Toumpas now? Silky smooth speedy Barry on one wing and Silky smooth speedt Toumpas on the other with Viney and Jones getting dirty sounds soooooo good? Probably a different thread and feel free to move it but who do you think GWS will take with 123? My guess is Whitfield, Toumpas, Grundy.

Think you are overrating Barry a bit. Right now believe it or not I would much rather have Morton on a wing then Barry.

He is a project player who will be lucky to get a game in his first year I think. Has the potential to be a star but we need to see how he develops.

But yes I think Toumpas will be gone, regardless we should be happy with Wines or O Rourke.

Anyone heard from this bloke? I haven't seen him in a MFC polo saying how happy he is to be playing for the oldest club in the AFL...

He was at school and Western Australia....... Ease up!

Barry could be Jamie Bennel or the GC Bennel very much a project player

We also have to officially select him before all of that.

Is it not locked in kind of like father/son? If this kid grows to 200cm and 110kg and averages 5 goals a game can GC change their mind?

Not only that but we believed that our pick would be pushed back another spot to 14 and we were eyeing off Dom Barry as he is touted to be very special. Didn't get a lot of exposure leading into the championships and the inside word is he is going to be special, very special. While we are all caught up on "the hulk" Dom is the hidden gem, not saying he is going to be better but he will surprise everyone. That comes directly from within our recruiting ranks. Also 20 gave us the ability to strategically get ourselves ready for Dawes. Will happen in the next day or so.

Heard very similar. Also have heard that he would have been picked up late 2nd round. Source - employee of another club.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
