Shoulda send best Daisy, Shoulda said best. I actually think that rookie him is the better option.....than a whole host of others. But I dont all the facts the Club has but it does not look good.

I'd like to see him rookied (if possible) if he agrees to commit and FD are convinced.

I got the impression though that you would prefer to cut him loose?

We all want to believe in fairy tales and rookying might be a low cost way to keep the dream alive

Im going for the positive outlook. We have done the right thing 3 months off with his family August-Sep-Oct.

He will come back in a fanfare and be treated almost like a new recruit. No rookie list for arguable our most popular player.

It would make a massive positive statement at the beginning of a pre-season around NOV 1.

i would like to see us give him a 1 year contract on the list. Would prefer to have him on a 1 year contract and risk him not playing than hold onto Sellar or others on the same length deal.

Someone play a Jurrah highlights package to Mark Neeld and the rest of the FD before they make the final decision!

Cannot see him on our list next season. Too flighty at the moment and too big a risk.

Rookie or att

Why? I would have thought the timing was almost perfect. It means he can do a full pre-season and then, assuming he gets off with a fine or even better, with all charges dropped, he may not miss a game... he would even be available for most pre-season comp games (unless we made the final).

Transfer him to the rookie list. Then see how he copes with everything.

There is one flaw in your request DemonWA

He has been on the park for 1+ quarters in the last 22 games.

Prospects of him adding to that in 2013 are low.

Glad I don't have to make the decision

Might turn to an unmitigated disaster if he does another runner back to the family.

To make it in the modern AFL and get this club off the bottom requires 110% commitment

Anything less will not work

1 more than Gawn.

I'd prefer to hold onto Jurrah than plenty of our fringe players, thats all im sayin!

I very much doubt he'll be back.

Personally, I was never a fan of the book that came out about him. Don't think it did Liam any favours at all to have something like that published so prematurely in his life/career. Not sure 'Rudeboy' deserves the halo everyone around here so readily hoists above his head tbh.

Questionable motives on that project IMO and perhaps not as helpful and selfless as the instigator (Rudeboy) would have everyone believe.

regardless of the motives, Jurrah's story is/was worth telling, even if he never plays a game again,.

There is one big difference Gawn is not about to do a family runner

You can be JC but if you are not on the park what does it matter

I haven't read it yet.

This is devastating news, all this crap will be front/back page of the Hun for weeks leading into round 1.I was hoping this would be dusted by October.

Too hard basket, time to move on.

Could of been a romantic story but this is business, not fairytale storytime.

Delist!

If Jurrah's prepared to have a go and stick with the club through a pre season then we must stick with him. In fact, more than stick with him we must encourage and support him to continue with his career.

The guy is a genius. We have only seen flashes of his potential. PLease, please do anything needed to keep him

I firmly believe that the MFC have been doing this BBo

But not sure that it is a two way street at present

I agree... we have carried a number of players of lesser potential for a number of years (Bate, Morton, Dunn, Miller and so on), so I can't see why we wouldn't at least give Liam a bit more time; particularly considering that we have already seen glimpses of what he is capable of.

Liam may well be a football genius, but it takes 2 to Tango. If he aint on the park, he can do nothing for us.

Correct! But my point is we should move heaven and earth to to keep him on the park.

Yes, but when he goes home without telling the club. That could be a difficult job.

Liam's head is elsewhere, and i am not blaming him. It just is.

They may have been carried but show me where any of them walked out unannounced during a season, expecting to waltz back in later on. Imagine the uproar.

I hope we take a hard line now with this and offer Liam - at most - an opportunity to compete for a rookie list spot.

Sigh.

I was still holding on to the pipedream of a trial late this year, with a not guilty verdict that came just in time for him to get stuck in to pre-season training. It's hard to see how this can end any other way than as a bummer now from an MFC point of view.

Sigh.

Suppose we can just hope that the best thing happens for Liam and the people of Yuendumu now. I won't pretend to have a clue what that might be.

Sigh.

If Neeld is all about actions and behaviours, elite compliance and elite work ethic, then I'm really sorry to say it but Liam fails miserably.

The club needs to continue with their support during this trial but to factor Liam into next years football team would be foolish and unprofessional.

I think we all know that Neeld is of no such dispositions.

Wow. This is a scary post..

EVERY player must be treated the same and the club deserves to have that same level of respect in return from the player/s.

Not: i know youre expecting me at Casey this weekend, but.. im actually in South Australia visiting mum..

Or: btw - It's LJ here, yep im still up here in alice, but im in a bit of trouble..

Lynden Dunn, J MacDonald, James Sellar - 3 players that come to mind, as being 3 of our best in the 2nd half of the year (besides nath jones) - even though theyve really warmed to the Neeld plan -

theyre still constantly bagged and sold to the 1st club that will take them.. (yet, those 3 have been noticably better than our own captain Trengove for eg.. when he should not have even been in the team)

But yet we put up with and defend someone on machete charges AND doesnt even bother to stay in the state. WTF people??

..and the last bit..

Were even shorter on players that defend, run and chase, are accountable for their man and play for the team..

whats the point in having a genius out there that kicks 2 great goals.. then nothing else for 100 minutes?

i would unhappily put up with the situation if he hadnt [censored] off on the club without warning - after all weve done for him.

He's probably cost the footy club a pretty penny as it is..

Nup. Cut the cord now.. Move on to someone who wants their chance.

Pretty much agree Mcqueen hard call needs to be made, and I am not saying just abandon LJ provide continued support but at best only a rookie spot should be on offer

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
