How lucky are we Chris Dawes said no to us.

I just remembered that last year around trade week,we offered Chris Dawes a huge contract around the same as we gave M Clark.

Luckily for us he turned it down and stated he wanted to remain at the pies

Well thank god he did,

IMAGINE we had him at FF, things could be even worse and bleak

Why, because if he was playing for us he would have been odds-on to have a knee reco within 10 minutes or something?

You're SO right!

The guy has never impressed me. Though I guess he's still quite young(?23), and we all know that big forwards take years to develop.

We hit the jackpot with Mitch.

so you dont want Dawes at all then?

He's about three rungs below Cloke.

Incidently, how firm is the offer of $1 mill to Cloke?

Can we take it off the table?

Well, that's right why would we need a quality young man who puts his body on the line every week, follows coaches instructions and plays a selfless game for the sake of the team good. Spare me from our own supporters.

This post does sound very like Mark Neeld one of the coahing staff with a Collingwood background to me.......

Hey Left Field.

I was taught to not try and talk sense with a fool, but here goes.

Tell me a Melbourne forward, Clarke aside, who works as hard as Chris Dawes for his team and teammates. How would I know that without being a Collingwood secret agent. Simple really. I have watched Collingwood play in the past three finals series where Chris Dawes has been involved. What in the he'll would make you start thinking about players you are glad we never got,,,

Couple of things young fella. I never said anything about Dawes - go back and check. My comment was more about the "fine young man" statement - which sounds like you either know him or are some sort of psychic. So you are right in the extended sense of looking like a fool.

Having said that, Dawes would be a big no from me. Players who get paid to work up the ground and sideways to create space for others are a dime a dozen. As they stay in the system and get worked out, they increasingly attract a specific defensive focus that causes their output to drop. BTW his output has dropped remarkably this year. At his size (and speed and agility at ground level), unless his overhead work is well above average (which it isn't) then he becomes the liability we can all see. Dawes is a medium speed, average overhead gorilla who becomes a liability when the ball hits the ground.

Working hard and being effective are two different things youngster.

Call me lame but I reckon we'd be that keen for another decent big man besides Clark I'd make a play at Cam Pederson from North.

I agree here! Pederson is a really good footballer i think. Takes a good grab and can kick a goal or can play in the backline!

If he was free I'd have a crack.

I'd like you to contribute something worthwhile for a start.

You stated we need a full forward in a thread about Dawes and stated we needed goals. Let me know when your going to post something "worthwhile". I'll be paying attention.

We have the worst forward line in the AFL at the moment.

Dawes would be like a messiah, when you consider Rivers, Green (on his last legs) and Petterd are our 3 pronged attack at the moment.

What stands out about him other then his size? Remember the delivery into him now is alot better then it would be if he were in our forward line. Didn't we delist someone similar to him just a few years ago who started off similar to Dawes?

Get real

What chance does Dawes have with the worst delivery in the history of football kicking the ball and the paltry amount of inside 50's we get?

Lay off Dawes, the guy busts his ass every week and is the main reason we beat Adelaide in Adelaide

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
