I've been thinking, we need experience and we need good engines, players who can spread.

And I got to thinking, who are we missing?

Bring back Bruce!

Hear me out. He has a good tank, reads the play, runs like an old holden, has some height & seems to have plenty of time.

Were we hasty?

No. Cam was a bit hasty because he saw what he believed was the writing on the wall and left of his volition when he could have remained a one club player.

Now he's a three club player - Melbourne, Hawthorn and Box Hill.

He's past it now - we could do with one or two experienced players but they need to have some life in the AFL left.

His disposal was rubbish, and he is almost 33. Seriously, wasting picks on redrafting blokes as old as him is ridiculous; we'd be lucky to get a season out of him.

He would actually be of use had we not cut him. If he can stay on Hawthorns list for two years then a one year contract plus causes enabling him to a have a second year was not an outrageous demand. Bruce knew the writing was on the wall as we had just sacked our captain and had just offered him a one year contract. Bailey and co have created mayhem at this club. Sacking your captain and running your vice captain out of the club is an absolute disgrace. Now we have two young players who still have to a lot to prove to the AFL community as captains. Bruce was fading but was an outstanding servant of the club who finished top 10 in our best n fairest every year except his first (2000). I read an article in which Isaac Smith praised Bruce as a mentor. The crap he receives on this site is outrageous. He was a true professional and in a club that currently resembles an amature shambles would have helped set the standards and develop the youngsters

Be grateful... imagine what the standard of conversation is like on the Collingwood forum.

Something like...

"how much does yous c$&@s reckon weel win ar chwelf in a row by dis week?"

Sadly, I wouldn't mind if we had those conversations.

I dream of having those conversations.

One day.... one day.

Of course the standard of discourse will be much higher. I just read a post in another thread here using "et al" to describe multiple people!

Come someone tell me who 'al' is? Is it something to do with cosmopolitan round?

Gotta hand it to you DL, threads like this make the forum a good read. Someone has to put it out there.

While I wasn't behind the Junior chopping, I was 100% behind only offering Bruce a one year deal and to be honest, he was lucky to get that. Hawthorn didn't do their research as it was clear to all of us watching Cam play each week that he was finished.

I think we will go after a couple of experienced guys who we can get reasonably cheap, but I'd hope we won't bother if a 33 year old Cameron Bruce is an indicator the quality on offer.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
