Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I remember after the first half dozen rounds someone came out and said Carlton was embracing the flag favourite tag. Yesterday someone else came out and said they were embracing the underdog tag. Funny how quickly things can change.

My gripe is how the commentators are putting it all down to the injury toll at Carlton. Earlier in the year when they were bagging us, our injuries which included just about anyone whose ever kicked a goal for us were ignored.

The players deserved this scrutiny.

Forget about injuries - the players on the park weren't even doing the non-negotiables.

Just had a Carlton fan say on Facebook-"Now I know how it fells to be a Melbourne supporter"

If my club had cheated ,rorted and tanked their way to mediocrity I guess I would feel like a Carlscum supporter.

This is all soooooo sweet. I was a Melbourne supporter in the old Carlton zone through the 70's and 80's and suffered loads of rubbish from every Carlton supporter. To see them like this makes me feel very nice inside.

If they can't get Waite up and fit by round 15, it is even possible that we will end up with more wins than them. How good would that be?

LOL.

I loath Carlton. Almost as good watching Carlton lose, as it is watching Melbourne win.

When Carlton loses to Melbourne, one day, it will be like the world's greatest footballing orgasm. One day.

It will be even better if the failure continues and the internal blame game starts and Ratten is sacked. Can't waite.

I look at Carlton and think, you got Judd in too early - he was always going to be around 28-29 when you were ready to challenge.

Then you trade for Brock!

Looking back on Kruezer, or what couldve been with Cotchin!!

Bryce Gibbs has always been one dimensional and soft - nothing has changed, I dare him to get a hard ball!

Then theres Warnock to a lesser extent, nothing seems to go right for the Blues.

They wouldve been better off keeping Kennedy and pick 3, no doubt.

It just shows the pitfalls of tanking, doesn't it?

Tanking destroys the fabric of the club and the perception of the club from the wider football community; it paints the club as cheats.

I must confess I wasn't anti tanking and was quite happy to see us lose games for high draft picks but on reflection it did us a lot more harm than good, Carlton are in an even worse position than us because of their sustained tanking and arrogance, at least we've recognised that we had to change things but they seem to think that they can roll on and a flag will follow.

Every club that was in a worse position than us before we tanked has out run us and is better off, it just goes to show that number one picks don't win flags, hard work and integrity does.

The truth is they are a top 5 side. So they're recruiting has had a huge effect from where they'd fallen to.

They are currently struggling after a great start, after losing 3 key personnel & the momentum of winning.

They will be back But the game has swung back bigtime to contested football, remember the Bruise Free comments. Last year they were stronger than us at the hard ball.

Well, the competition has passed them by in a Flash, & now they're wanting for contested ball winners, & a tweek to they're attacking gamestyle.

They will be back, but they're not standouts. They are still a top 5 side.

This is starting to sound like a MasterCard ad.

MFC season tickets - $400

Myki card to cover transport to and from all games - $60

Finishing higher than Carlton on the ladder - priceless

There is no evidence whatsoever that tanking has adversely affected Carlton or Melbourne. There's so many millions of other variables that affect how teams play that it's ridiculous to blame it on just one.

The truth is that we will never know the impact that tanking had on either club because there is no way of measuring it. The best we can do is guess, which is equal to just making stuff up.

What it does do though is raise the question of integrity. What damage do you do to careers? Even that dreaded word "culture". It makes everything questionable. From player's records to the long term fabric of the club. Should we have an asterisk against the honour boards. If you have position 16th*, do you also have the same mark against the Bluey winner?

I do believe in a tanking hangover that probably lasts until the last of the tankers has gone. Dean Bailey got axed, the senior player exits, and forced exits have had ongoing effects long after we are supposedly fair dinkum. We can never take that destructive route again. No proof but am I making stuff up?

I'm so glad I've got you around to remind me what forums are for and that each of us have an opinion.

If you want to form a baseless opinion, knock yourself out. I prefer evidence based opinions myself.

So you base your opinion that there's no evidence that tanking causes problems on what exactly?

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
