Shelve the Cloke idea, let's get Jonno Patton ...

Sheedy would rather him go to the draft than give him to us. And there will be 18 other teams in the competition with this same thought in mind. Whilst the bitter man is at the helm we won't be able to get any of their players.

Of course we should find out his long term future. After what GW$ did to the MFC all is fair game.

The MFC must be relentless in the pursuit of its own gains. It is what other clubs do.

To say "we do not have the balls" is an attitude we need to shed.

If anything the MFC "balls" need to grow...

Get in his manager's ear now.

5 mil for 5 years. Starting 2014.

The ultimate payback.

IMO RR 2013 is about getting good experienced players into our team.

2014 in our current predictment is a lifetime away.

Lets go after the getables for 2013.

If he is any good and we may not know till 2014.

The que will stretch to about 17 chances.

Unfortunately he isn't eligible for free agency for a long time. So we will have to pay through the nose to get him.

I don't really see it as payback at all. GWS didn't have to give up anything to poach Scully from us. We will have to give up a couple of first round draft picks minimum to get Patton.

While I don't really think Cloke would be worth the coin, it would be awesome knowing that we got him without giving up any players or draft picks. Hence why free agency is so interesting.

Love your combative, positive, go-getting attitude as usual Sloonie.

Silly dream. He won't leave, will see out his next contract, and at that stage a move for Patton is possible.

I say try:

Aaron edwards - foil for clarke, bandaid

Sidebottom, montagna, goddard - $$$ may get them.

Beams at less then those mentioned above

Myles sewell, shane valenti, and yes even Brock Mclean.

Fringe players from the hawks, carlton, WCE, essendon, geelomg

Only spend big bucks to get a walk up star, and I think we could recycle a few more stop gaps like seller.

Clarke so far value for coin.

So 2 proven facts from this year are we (1) need quality ready to go midfielders and (2) we could do with a foild up foward for clarke like a A. Edwards or crameri or even a mcglynn type.

Fingers croseed there is a few goodbyes, more quality kids, And a few more bandaides so kids can develop properly.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

Failed to fulfill the promise of his breakout six goal effort against the Tigers in 2023 and was generally disappointing as a key forward. It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success. After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level. One to watch in 2024. Date of Birth: 7 March 2003 Height: 191cm Games MFC 2024: 15 Career Total:  15 Goals MFC 2024: 0 Career Total:  0 Games CDFC 2024: 6 Goals CDFC 2024: 0

Originally an NBL basketballer with the Brisbane Bullets, he moved across town in 2019 to the AFL Lions where he played 19 games before crossing to Melbourne where he was expected to fill a role as a back up ruckman/key forward. Unfortunately, didn’t quite get there although he did finish equal sixth in Casey’s best and fairest award. Date of Birth: 23 February 1999 Height: 198cm Games CDFC: 14 Goals CDFL: 13

Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final. His loss to the club was inestimable over and above his on field talent given his character and leadership qualities, all of which have been sorely missed. The son of former Demon Brownlow Medalist Shane, Taj added a further 16 games to his overall tally of games but a number were as substitute. He is slowly fitting into the team structure but without doing anything spectacular and needs to take further steps forward in 2025 for his career to progress.
