Why would he stick around with us when he deserves a chance but isn't getting it?!

He will be ready alongside J Viney. Why let him be taught by senior players who are not up to it.

J Mac as a Half Forward. Interesting.

He has been down forward from time to time and has a career 6.13 on the board.

He might teach THEM something... And they may learn something by being dropped for a hungrier better performed player

Isn't that the idea of having these guys? Competition for spots breeds strength in a list.

Really??! You really think no one would pick him up after the form he has shown at VFL level and the current trend of teams picking up more senior players?!

Valenti didn't get put on a list this year after winning the Liston Medal.

That would put him in the top three forwards in 2012

But he had a few shots at AFL level, not quite the same I reckon

I don't understand this scenario:

-MFC elevate Couch from rookie list

-Couch tears up VFL

-MFC midfield struggling badly, especially for clearances

- Couch gets sick and misses a game and training

- VFL have a bye, which means that Couch doesn't get to play for three weeks and is short on match fitness

- Moloney gets one more chance

Do some of our experienced midfielders want to learn Stuie??

Its hard to say yes. I wish i could.

Not quite, Howie has 7.11, should be quite a contest between them.

My God we are desperate for something to talk about this year CHAMP.

Fully expecting late changes of Frawley and Green out for Bennell/Bate and Sellar in. Otherwise I don't see why Macdonald would come in in Frawley was playing and why we'd drop Sellar against Essendon.

FF: Tapscott Clark Dunn

FB: Hardingham Hooker Fletcher

HF: Blease Howe Magner

HF: Dyson Carlisle Dempsey

C: Bail McKenzie Grimes

C: Stanton Watson Zaharakis

HB: Watts Rivers Macdonald

HF: Monfries Hurley Crameri

FB: Garland McDonald Nicholson

FF: Jetta Ryder Davey

Foll: Jamar Moloney Jones

Foll: Bellchambers Hocking Howlett

Int: Sellar, Trengove, Sylvia S: Bate/Bennell

Int: Lonergan, Colyer, Melksham, Lovett-Murray

Key matchups:

McKenzie v Watson - needs to shut him right down

Bail v Stanton - has to stop him being their outlet from the backline and getting loose forward

Clark v Hooker/Carslile - as always pressure on Mitch to kick a bag

Dunn v Fletcher - has to keep him away from the footy

McDonald v Ryder/Bellchambers - If Frawley's out he has to shut down a dangerous tall'

Rivers v Hurley

Macdonald v Crameri - comes into the side to do a job on a dangerous player

Moloney v Hocking - needs to break a tag for once!!!

Not sure why you would have sellar in against anyone.

Cannot play back cannot play forward cannot play ruck.

Where do you suggest we hide him against Essndon?

U know its depressing when the "omitted" list is more enjoyable to look at then the "ins" list

WTF?!

I reckon that Neeld has been using the first half of the season to work out who is putting in and who isn't, and that you will see Couch brought into the team for the second half of the season; wouldn't be surprised to see Cook given a run as well... in fact, I think we will see both Couch and Cook come in for games against GWS and GCS.

Rivers destroyed Crameri last year by memory. He should hve another crack at him.

Crameri is in S@&$ hot form. Rivers will be sold up the river. These days reading team listings is such yawn. When you know a 10 goal loss is better than a par result it's all deck chair shuffling stuff.

Who do you suggests plays back up ruck and as a second key forward? Don't say Dunn. Or Clark - because who'll kick the goals! Or do you want to [censored] Jamar even though he's already battling and we are 0 and 9.

I'd rather play substandard personnel than no one at all, so we can at least develop a structure.

If Frawley is right to go then I'd certainly play McDonald as the back up ruck/forward, but Macdonald coming in doesn't look like that will happen.

Agree with the deck chairs and also agree Rivers is a shocking match up for Crameri. Frawley would be a decent one but in his absence it was Joel Macdonald who played on Crameri last year and despite the fact I have no confidence in him he may as well get first go again this year.

Mmmmm....Due to injuries and omissions... no indigenous players for MFC this week.....thats a pity, I remember up to 4 or 5 playing at some stage in the last few years.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
