So in the last few months there has been problems with Sylvia, Jurrah, Davey and Nicholson that we know of. Add that to Moloney last year and Scully's rumoured problems with the culture at the club. MFC is a complete shambles on field and off field.

Hah. Nice image, Jaded.

Under the extraordinary circumstances of this week, I would have been happy if the club kept this one quiet and just listed him as injured for the week.

I wholeheartedly...disagree..

Idiot. How hard is it to not drink for six months? I don't drink at all, and I don't have a two hundred thousand dollar contract which requires my utmost physical performance. Does it take that much willpower to JUST AVOID DRINKING!?

Chook I don't mean to be condesending but if you don't drink at all it may be hard to understand. I love a drink and compete in endurance events with a 20 week lead up programme. The last 4 to 6 weeks of these I am alcohol free and I find it very hard in fact it is even harder than the event, but maybe that's cause I'm Irish.

I don't think he would have been going out to get smashed.

It's bloody hard OK? I've been really sick so can't have any alcohol, and it's destroying my soul

It's far far worse than not being able to have dairy during Easter.

Having said that, for that sort of money, they can have my liver.

Trust me, Nicholson isn't on ANYWHERE near the figure quoted.

Somehow I don't think that Nicholson, on his rookie salary, is getting $200 000.

Regardless, I'm glad that Neeld & Co are ensuring that players are preparing properly.

I know that, but the salary potential is that.

I think Chook was trying to make the point that these guys get paid handsomely to perform in a professional matter. That means sacrifices, like not getting on the [censored] when you're trying to recover from an injury. It seems a simple task for those motivated enough to succeed, or at least it should be.

We all have a standard we need to uphold at work, and most of us get paid crap all to do it compared to these guys.

This is hardly the end of the world, he probably had 2 drinks, but that's 2 too many, and it's disappointing. He fought hard to get on a senior list, so why blow it by being a toolbag?

Exactly right, Jaded. And about the sum of money I said Nicho's on: Well I'd say I got it wrong because I'm drunk, but I don't have that excuse at my disposal. Unfortunately I'm just too stupid to remember he's a rookie.

There are things that I find it hard to give up, so I can understand the difficulty people might have eliminating alcohol. The hardest part of giving up alcohol seems to be the social aspects of it. Damn near every event or family get-together I go to has someone offering me a beer or a glass of wine every five seconds. It's not that I don't drink because I don't like how it makes me feel. It's that I don't drink because I don't like how I feel after I drink it.

Yes, I was going to suggest we all chip in to buy Thommo a new pair of boots... I think his current pair must be just about worn out.

Wouldn't think so Thomo, all the issues have been dealt with in the appropriate manner. It happens at all clubs, Wellingham at Collingwood just last week. Some thought Blease getting time for missing a meeting to harsh, I think the club is on the right track, maybe not in the past but it is now.

I agree, it's not that hard at all.

I love a drink and used to go out drinking 6 nights a week and have a glass of wine at home every night. I was getting married in 2010 and wanted to loose some weight so went off the grog from mid March until the end of October. Wasn't easy but if the will power's there then it's easy enough to do. I had friends birthdays and all different functions to get through.

Also look at one of our former champs in Shane Woewodin, the man didn't drink during the season back in an error where drinking was a lot more accepted during the season. He was ahead of his time and if he could do it 12 years ago, I don't see why our players can't do it in the professional era we are in now.

These types of things are super-frustrating and disappointing. As Chook said, it's not that hard, just don't pick up the bottle. It's especially easy when you know the consequences.

I think another 9000 facepalms will just about cover it.

My understanding is that there is no drinking allowed only during rehab.

That shouldn't be too hard.

Should it?

This is nothing but a diversionary tactic by the powers that be at the club to deflect attention away from some of the bigger stories of the week.

Nicholson has obviously been set up as a patsy and there is no way he can be guilty as charged.

I checked through the MFC official injured list for the past month and his name was nowhere to be seen. Therefore, it follows that he could not possibly have been undergoing rehab and, as a consequence, is an innocent man.

I think you should have said "MFC 'was'a complete shambles" (and even that statement is hyperbolic) a new regime has come aboad and is changing the culture.

I doesn't happen in a few days or weeks: it can take a year or more!

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak
